Roller sports equipment - Inline-skates - Safety requirements and test methods
This standard applies to inline-skates intended for users with a body mass of more than 20 kg. It specifies general and safety requirements for inline-skates to reduce the risk of injuries to both third parties and the user during their normal use. Inline-skates for use by a rider of less than 20 kg do not belong to the scope of this EN. They are covered by EN 71-1. This EN does not apply to roller skates.

Diese Norm gilt für Inline-Skates für Benutzer mit einem Körpergewicht über 20 kg und bis 100 kg.
Sie legt sicherheitstechnische Anforderungen an Inline-Skates, Anforderungen an Prüfverfahren, Kennzeichnung
und Herstellerinformation fest, die bei bestimmungsgemäßer Anwendung die Verletzungsgefahr für
Dritte und die Benutzer verringern sollen.
Inline-Skates für einen Benutzer bis 20 kg gehören nicht zum Anwendungsbereich dieser Europäischen Norm.
Sie sind Spielzeug.
Diese Norm gilt nicht für Rollschuhe nach EN 13899.
ANMERKUNG Anforderungen an Inline-Skates aus orthopädischer Sicht, wie seitliche Stützelemente oder Ähnliches,
sind in dieser Norm nicht enthalten, weil diese Anforderungen für jeden Benutzer unterschiedlich sind und deshalb nicht
durch eine Norm erfasst werden können.

La présente norme s'applique aux patins à roulettes en ligne conçus pour un utilisateur pesant entre 20 kg et
100 kg (masse corporelle).
Elle spécifie des exigences de sécurité s'appliquant aux patins à roulettes en ligne et des spécifications
relatives aux méthodes d'essai, au marquage et aux informations fournies par le fabricant pour réduire les
risques de blessures auxquelles sont exposés les tiers et l'utilisateur dans des conditions d'utilisation
normales.
Les patins à roulettes en ligne conçus pour être utilisés par des personnes de moins de 20 kg ne sont pas
couverts par la présente Norme européenne ; ils relèvent des jouets.
La présente norme ne s'applique pas aux patins à roulettes selon l'EN 13899.
NOTE Les exigences s'appliquant aux patins à roulettes en ligne et relevant de considérations d'ordre orthopédique,
comme par exemple le maintien latéral, ne sont pas incluses dans la présente norme car, ces exigences différant d'un
utilisateur à l'autre, elles ne peuvent faire l’objet d’une norme.

3 Foreword This document (EN 13843:2009) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 136 “Sports, playground and other recreational facilities and equipment”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 2009, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by October 2009. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. This document supersedes EN 13843:2003. In relation to EN 13843:2003 the following main changes have been introduced:
a) 5.3 "Last" added; b) 5.4.7 "Loosening of attached starting and/or braking devices" added; c) attachment of the chassis to the shoe in former 5.4.1 modified; d) service and maintenance in former 7.2.3 b) modified. 1 Scope This standard is applicable to inline-skates intended for users with a body mass of more than 20 kg and less than 100 kg. It specifies safety requirements for inline-skates, specifications for test methods, marking and information supplied by the manufacturer to reduce the risk of injuries to both third parties and the user during their normal use. Inline-skates for use by a rider of less than 20 kg do not belong to the scope of this European Standard. They are toys. This Standard does not apply to roller skates according to EN 13899. NOTE Requirements for inline-skates from the orthopedic point of view such as lateral support or similar were not included in this standard because these requirements differ from wearer and therefore cannot be covered by a standard. 2 Normative references The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document.
