Geographic information - Referencing - Geographic identifiers

This European Prestandard establishes a schema for spatial referencing using geographic identifiers. It specifies how a system of geographic identifiers is described, and defines the attributes of a location and the contents of a gazetteer of locations. Spatial referencing based on coordinates is outside the scope of this standard. This European Prestandard is applicable not only to digital data, but also to other forms of geographic data such as maps, charts and textual documents.

Diese Europäische Norm behandelt die räumliche Referenzierung mit Hilfe von beschreibenden Identifikatoren. Es wird festgelegt, wie räumliche Referenz- konzepte beschrieben  werden, und es werden die wesentliche Komponenten für ein Verzeichnis von räumlichen Einheiten und für einen Geoindex von räumlichen Referenzen definiert. Die räumliche Referenzierung mit geodätischen Koordinaten ist nicht Gegenstand dieser Norm.

La présente norme européenne établit un modele de systeme de référence spatiale s'appuyant sur l'usage d'identificateurs descriptifs. Elle spécifie la façon dont sont décrits les systemes de références spatiales, et définité les éléments fondamentaux d'un répertoire d'unités spatiales et d'un index de références spatiales. Les systemes de références spatiales fondées sur des coordonnées géodésiques sont hors du domaine d'application de la présente norme.
