This part of IEC 61300 details a procedure for determining the suitability of a fibre optic device to withstand the environmental condition of high humidity and high temperature which may occur in actual use, storage and/or transport. The test is primarily intended to permit the observation of effects of high humidity at constant temperature over a given period. Absorption of moisture may result in swelling that would destroy functional utility, cause loss of physical strength, and cause changes in other important mechanical properties. Degradation of optical properties may also occur. Although not necessarily intended as a simulated tropical test, this test can, nevertheless, be useful in determining moisture absorption of insulating or covering materials.

La CEI 61300-2-19:2012 détermine l'aptitude d'un dispositif à fibres optiques à supporter un environnement très humide et à température élevée, qui peut se produire en cours d'utilisation réelle, de stockage et/ou de transport. L'essai sert avant tout à permettre l'observation des effets d'une humidité élevée à température constante pendant une période donnée. Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition publiée en 2005. Elle constitue une révision technique. V tem delu standarda IEC 61300 je podrobno opisan postopek za ugotavljanje primernosti optičnih spojnih elementov in pasivnih komponent za odpornost proti okoljskemu pogoju visoke vlažnosti in temperature, ki se lahko pojavi med dejanskim delovanjem, shranjevanjem in/ali transportom. Preskus je prvenstveno namenjen omogočanju opazovanja učinkov visoke vlage pri stalni temperaturi v določenem časovnem območju. Zaradi absorpcije vlage se lahko pojavi nabrekanje, ki lahko uniči funkcionalnost ter povzroči izgubo fizične moči in spremembe drugih pomembnih mehanskih lastnosti. Tudi optične lastnosti se lahko poslabšajo. Ta preskus je lahko koristen tudi pri ugotavljanju absorpcije vlage pri izolacijskih in pokrivnih materialih, čeprav prvenstveno ni bil mišljen kot simuliran tropski preskus.

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
