Respiratory protective devices - Compressed gases for breathing apparatus
EN 12021 specifies requirements for the quality of compressed gas supplied for mixing or use in respiratory protective devices and hyper- and hypobaric operations. Account is taken of the use of compressed gases for normal atmospheric pressure as well as for hyper- and hypobaric pressures. This European Standard does not apply to compressed gases used for medical purposes or for aerospace applications.
Atemschutzgeräte - Druckgase für Atemschutzgeräte
Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an die Qualität von Druckgasen fest, die für folgende Typen von Ausrüstung benutzt werden:
a) Atemschutzgeräte - Behältergeräte mit Druckgas (Pressluftatmer) und autonome Leichttauchgeräte;
b) Atemschutzgeräte - Druckgas-Schlauchgeräte und Druckgas-Schlauchgeräte für Einsatz unter Wasser;
c) Atemschutzgeräte für Selbstrettung - Behältergeräte mit Druckgas (Pressluftatmer) mit Vollmaske oder Mundstückgarnitur oder Haube. d) Atemschutzgeräte für Selbstrettung - Behältergeräte mit Vollmaske oder Mundstückgarnitur oder Haube.
e) Atemgeräte - Autonome Regenationsgeräte;
f) Atemgas für Überdruckeinsatz.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt auch für synthetische Luft. Es wird der Einsatz von Druckgasen sowohl bei normalem Atmosphärendruck als auch bei Überdruck berücksichtigt. Die maximal zulässigen Konzentrationen von Verunreinigungen der Druckgase werden als Werte angegeben, die auf atmosphärischen Referenz-zustand bezogen sind. Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für Druckgase, die für medizinische Zwecke oder in der Luftfahrt angewendet werden.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences pour la qualité du gaz comprimé fourni pour utilisation dans les applications suivantes :
a) appareils de protection respiratoire – Appareils de protection respiratoire autonomes à circuit ouvert à gaz comprimé et appareils de plongée autonomes à gaz comprimé et à circuit ouvert ;
b) appareils de protection respiratoire – Appareils de protection respiratoire avec alimentation de gaz comprimé et appareils de protection respiratoire de plongée avec alimentation de gaz comprimé ;
c) appareils de protection respiratoire pour l'évacuation – Appareils de protection respiratoire autonomes à circuit ouvert à gaz comprimé, avec masque complet ou ensemble embout buccal ou cagoule ;
d) appareils de protection respiratoire pour l'évacuation – Appareils autonomes à circuit fermé, avec masque complet ou ensemble embout buccal ou cagoule ;
e) équipement respiratoire – Appareils autonomes à circuit fermé ;
f) gaz respiratoire fourni pour utilisation dans les milieux hyperbares.
La présente norme s'applique également à l'air synthétique. L'utilisation de gaz comprimés à la pression atmosphérique normale et à des pressions hyperbares est prise en compte. Les concentrations maximales admissibles d'impuretés contenues dans le gaz comprimé sont des valeurs établies à des pressions atmosphériques normales.
La présente Norme européenne ne s'applique pas aux gaz comprimés à usage médical ou aux applications aérospatiales.
Oprema za varovanje dihal - Stisnjeni plini za dihalne aparate
Standard EN 12021 določa zahteve za kakovost stisnjenega plina, dobavljenega za mešanje ali uporabo pri opremi za varovanje dihal ter pri hiper- in hipobaričnih operacijah. Upošteva se uporaba stisnjenih plinov za običajni atmosferski tlak ter tudi za hiper- in hipobarični tlak. Ta evropski standard se ne uporablja za stisnjene pline, ki se uporabljajo za medicinske namene ali za uporabo v aeronavtiki.

EN 12021:2014 (E) 3 Foreword This document (EN 12021:2014) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 79 “Respiratory protective devices”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 2014, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by October 2014. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. EN 12021:2014 (E) 4 1 Scope This European Standard specifies requirements for the quality of compressed gas supplied for mixing or use in respiratory protective devices and hyper- and hypobaric operations. Account is taken of the use of compressed gases for normal atmospheric pressure as well as for hyper- and hypobaric pressures. EN 12021:2014 (E) 5 3.6 oxygen compatible air compressed natural breathing air where the level of impurities has been reduced to make it suitable for use in gas mixtures including those containing oxygen concentrations greater than 22 % Note 1 to entry: Oxygen compatible air is also known in the diving industry as “oil free air”, “clean air” or “double filtered air”. 3.7 nitrogen depleted air oxygen compatible air from which some nitrogen has been removed to make it suitable for use in, or as, a gas mixture containing oxygen concentrations greater than 22 % Note 1 to entry: Nitrogen depleted air is also known as “nitrox”. 3.8 oxygen enriched air compressed natural breathing air to which some oxygen has been added prior to compression and the level of some impurities reduced to make it suitable for use in or as a gas mixture containing oxygen concentrations greater than 22 % Note 1 to entry: Oxygen enriched air is also known as “nitrox”. 3.9 dewpoint at a specified pressure, the temperature at, or below which, condensation from the gas phase will occur Note 1 to entry: This also includes frost point. 3.10 synthetic air mixture of oxygen and nitrogen that has an oxygen content of (21 ± 1) % Note 1 to entry: Synthetic air is also known as “nitrox”. 4 Units General use of SI units (see ISO 80000) as given throughout this International Standard is recommended.
