Hand-held non-electric power tools - Safety requirements - Part 11: Nibblers and shears

The standard EN 792 applies to non-electric hand-held tools driven by rotary or linear motors, powered by compressed air, hydraulic fluid and intended to be used by one operator and supported by: - the operator's hand or hands, a suspension, e.g. a balancer. This part, EN 792-11, applies to hand-held, non-electric power tools with a reciprocating movement for nibbling and shearing. This part lists the significant hazards caused by such power tools and specifies safety requirements valid for different aspects of safety during their foreseeable lifetime.

Die Norm EN 792 gilt für handgehaltene nicht-elektrisch betriebene Maschinen, die durch Motore mit drehender oder linearer Bewegung angetrieben werden, wobei die Energie aus Druckluft oder über Hydraulikflüssigkeit bezogen werden kann. Die Maschinen sind dazu bestimmt, durch eine Person verwendet und - mit einer oder beiden Händen gehalten, - in einer Halterung, z.B. Aufhängevorrichtung, aufgenommen zu werden. Dieser Teil, EN 792-11, gilt für handgehaltene nicht-elektrisch betriebene Maschinen mit hin- und hergehenden Bewegungen zum Nibbeln und Schneiden.

La norme EN 792 s'applique aux machines portatives non électriques entraînées par des moteurs rotatifs ou linéaires, alimentés par air comprimé, fluide hydraulique et prévues pour être utilisées par un seul opérateur et portée par: - la ou les main(s) de l'opérateur, - en suspension, p.e. à l'aide d'un équilibreur. Cette partie, EN 792-11, s'applique aux machines portatives de découpe non électriques, animées d'un mouvement alternatif pour grignoter et cisailler.

ISO 11148-13:2017 does not deal with special requirements and modifications of hand-held power tools for the purpose of mounting them in a fixture.
ISO 11148-13:2017 deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant to fastener driving tools for fasteners when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer, with the exception of the use of power tools in potentially explosive atmospheres.
NOTE       ISO 80079?36 gives requirements for non-electrical equipment for potentially explosive atmospheres.

The circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws can be powered by compressed air, hydraulic fluid or internal combustion engines and are intended to be used by one operator and supported by the operator's hand or hands, with or without a suspension, e.g. a balancer.
ISO 11148-12:2012 is applicable to circular saws, circular knives, oscillating saws having a saw blade with a radius of 50 mm or less or a diamond cutting-off blade with a radius of 100 mm or less, oscillating knives (including windshield knives) and reciprocating saws, including jig saws and power hack saws.
ISO 11148-12:2012 is not applicable to special requirements and modifications of circular, oscillating and reciprocating saws for the purpose of mounting them in fixtures.

flap discs and flap wheels.
ISO 11148-7:2012 does not cover special requirements and modifications of grinders for the purpose of mounting them in fixtures.
It is not applicable to
die grinders with collets which are treated in ISO 11148-9;
polishers and sanders [i.e. tools used with coated abrasives except flap discs and flap wheels] which are treated in ISO 11148-8;
cutting-off machines which are driven by internal combustion engines and are used for cutting construction materials, which are treated in ISO 19432;
shaft mounted wire brushes which are treated in ISO 11148-9.
