Leather - Physical and mechanical tests - Determination of water resistance of flexible leather (ISO 5403:2002)

ISO 5403:2002 specifies a method for determining the dynamic water resistance of leather. It is applicable to all flexible leathers but is particularly suitable for leathers intended for footwear uppers.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Wasserbeständigkeit von Leder fest. Das Verfahren ist für alle flexiblen Leder anwendbar, von besonderem Interesse ist es jedoch für Oberleder von Schuhwerk.

L'ISO 5403:2002 spécifie une méthode pour déterminer l'imperméabilité dynamique du cuir à l'eau. Elle s'applique à tous les cuirs souples mais elle convient particulièrement aux cuirs pour dessus de chaussure.

Foreword
This document (EN ISO 5403:2002) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 289
"Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI, in collaboration with the International Union of
Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS).
It is based on Method IUP 10 of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists
Societies.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2003, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by June 2003.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg,
