IS0 105-E04:1994(E) Foreword IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies (IS0 member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through IS0 technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. IS0 collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization. Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote. International Standard IS0 105.E04 was prepared by Technical Committee ISOflC 38, Textiles, Subcommittee SC 1, Tests for coloured textiles and colorants. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (IS0 105-E04:1989), of which it constitutes a technical revision. IS0 105 was previously published in 13 “parts”, each designated by a letter (e.g. “Part A”), with publication dates between 1978 and 1985. Each part contained a series of “sections”, each designated by the respective part letter and by a two-digit serial number (e.g. “Section A01 “). These sections are now being republished as separate documents, themselves designated “parts” but retaining their earlier alphanumeric designations. A complete list of these parts is given in IS0 105-AOI . 0 IS0 1994 All rights reserved. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD 0 IS0 IS0 105-E04:1994(E) Textiles - Tests for colour fastness - Part E04: Colour fastness to perspiration 1 Scope This part of IS0 105 specifies a method for deter- mining the resistance of the colour of textiles of all kinds and in all forms to the action of human perspiration. 2 Normative references The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this part of IS0 105. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this part of IS0 105 are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. Members of IEC and IS0 maintain registers of currently valid International Standards. IS0 105-AOI : 1994, Textiles - Tests for colour fast- ness - Part AOl: General principles of testing. IS0 105-A02: 1993, Textiles - Tests for colour fast- ness - Part AOZ: Grey scale for assessing change in colour. IS0 105-A03:1993, Textiles - Tests for colour fast- ness - Part A03: Grey scale for assessing staining. IS0 105-F: 1985, Textiles - Tests for colour fastness - Part F: Standard adjacent fabrics. IS0 105-F10:1989, Textiles - Tests for colour fast- ness - Part F 10: Specification for adjacent fabric: M ultifibre. 3 Principle Specimens of the textile in contact with adjacent fab- rics are treated in two different solutions containing histidine, drained and placed between two plates un- der a specified pressure in a test device. The speci- mens and the adjacent fabrics are dried separately. The change in colour of each specimen and the staining of the adjacent fabrics are assessed by com- parison with the grey scales. 4 Apparatus and reagents 4.1 Test devices, each consisting of a frame of stainless steel into which a weight-piece of mass ap- proximately 5 kg and base of 60 mm x 115 mm is closely fitted, so that a pressure of 12,5 kPa can be applied on test specimens measuring 40 mm x 100 mm placed between glass or acrylic-resin plates measuring approximately 60 mm x 115 mm x 1,5 mm. The test device shall be constructed so that, if the weight-piece is removed during the test, the pressure of 12,5 kPa remains unchanged. If the dimensions of the composite specimen differ from the size o
