Child use and care articles - Baby carriers - Safety requirements and test methods - Part 2: Soft carrier

This European Standard specifies the safety requirements and test methods for soft carriers for children i.e. those carriers without a framed support. These carriers are designed to transport a child in an essentially vertical position whilst attached to the carer's torso. It is essential that the carriers are designed to allow the carer hands free operation when standing or walking. These carriers are for use with a minimum weight of child of 3,5 kg.

Diese Europäische Norm legt Sicherheitsanforderungen an und Prüfverfahren für Kindertragen ohne Gestell
fest, d. h. jene Tragen ohne Stützrahmen. Diese Tragen sind so konstruiert, dass sie ein Kind in einer
weitestgehend senkrechten Position transportieren, während sie an dem Oberkörper des Erwachsenen
angebracht sind. Es ist erforderlich, dass die Tragen so konstruiert sind, dass sie dem Tragenden Handfreiheit
zur Ausübung von Tätigkeiten beim Stehen oder Gehen ermöglichen. Diese Tragen sind für ein Kind mit
einem Mindestgewicht von 3,5 kg zu verwenden.

La présente Norme européenne fixe les exigences de sécurité et les méthodes d'essai des porte-enfants souples, c'est-à-dire les porte-enfants sans structure rigide. Ces porte-enfants sont conçus pour transporter un enfant principalement en position verticale, l'enfant étant attaché au buste de l'adulte porteur. Il est impératif que les porte-enfants soient conçus pour permettre à l'adulte porteur de garder les mains libres en position debout ou de marche. Ces porte-enfants sont utilisables pour des enfants de 3,5 kg et plus.

Product information given in standards has a direct impact on safety. It should contribute to avoiding risks to the child. However, product information is not intended to compensate for design deficiencies and does not in itself make a product safer but is a means for the manufacturer to communicate with the user. Reasonable foreseeable misuse and risks of the product should be made explicit and adequate warnings be given.
All product information should be in the language(s) of the country in which the product is sold. It should be presented so that it is unambiguous, legible and easy to read and comprehend.
A risk analysis should be applied to identify those hazards for which safety-related product information is required.
