Steel wire ropes - Safety - Part 1: General requirements
This part of this European Standard specifies the general requirements related to safety for the manufacture and testing of steel wire ropes. It shall be used in conjunction with the appropriate part of this standard which specifies the additional or deviating requirements related to the specific rope application.
The hazards covered by this part are identified in clause 4. Any additional hazards related to the specific rope application are identified in the appropriate part of this standard.
Annex A gives the type testing regimes for ropes produced in series.
Annex ZA gives the relationship with EU-Directives.
This standard applies to ropes which have been manufactured after the date of issue of the standard.

Dieser Teil dieser Europäischen Norm legt die allgemeinen Anforderungen an Drahtseile bei Herstellung und Prüfung fest, deren besondere Anforderungen in anderen Teilen festgelegt sind.
Anhang A enthält die Verfahren zur Typprüfung von Seilen, die in Serie hergestellt werden.
Anhang B enthält Angaben über auszuführenden Prüfungen, die an Stahldrähten aus einem Seil auszuführen sind, wenn dies in anderen Teilen dieser Norm festgelegt ist.

La présente partie spécifie les prescriptions générales relatives à la fabrication et aux essais des câbles en acier, dont les prescriptions particulières sont spécifiées dans les autres parties.
L'annexe A donne les régimes d'essai de type pour les câbles produits en série.
L'annexe B donne les prescriptions d'essai pour les fils prélevés sur des câbles lorsque cela est spécifié dans les autres parties de la présente norme.

This document (EN 12385-1:2002) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 168, “Chains, ropes,
webbing, slings and accessories – Safety”, the secretariat of which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by April 2003, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by
April 2003.
