This document specifies requirements for 3-strand hawser-laid and 4-strand shroud-laid ropes, 8-strand braided ropes and 12-strand braided ropes for general service made of polypropylene, and gives rules for their designation.
This document does not cover all variations in strength or product performance. The rope manufacturer is consulted to ensure the intended design meets the requirements of the application.

The standard defines designation rules, physical property requirements (linear density and minimum breaking strength), marking and protection (e.g., UV protection), and references test methods.

This document (EN ISO 1346:2021) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38 "Textiles" in
collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 “Textiles and textile products” the secretariat of
which is held by BSI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by November 2021, and conflicting national standards
shall be withdrawn at the latest by November 2021.

Vorwort
ISO (die Internationale Organisation für Normung) ist eine weltweite Vereinigung von Nationalen
Normungsorganisationen (ISO-Mitgliedsorganisationen). Die Erstellung von Internationalen Normen wird
normalerweise von ISO Technischen Komitees durchgeführt. Jede Mitgliedsorganisation, die Interesse an
einem Thema hat, für welches ein Technisches Komitee gegründet wurde, hat das Recht, in diesem Komitee
vertreten zu sein. Internationale Organisationen, staatlich und nicht-staatlich, in Liaison mit ISO, nehmen
ebenfalls an der Arbeit teil. ISO arbeitet eng mit der Internationalen Elektrotechnischen Kommission (IEC)
bei allen elektrotechnischen Themen zusammen.
Internationale Normen werden in Übereinstimmung mit den Gestaltungsregeln der ISO/IEC-Direktiven,
Teil 2 erarbeitet.
Die Hauptaufgabe der Technischen Komitees besteht in dem Erarbeiten von Internationalen Normen. Die
