This document specifies requirements for 8-strand braided ropes, for 12-strand braided ropes, and for covered rope constructions for general purpose made of high modulus polyethylene (HMPE), and gives rules for their designation.

ISO 1107:2017 gives the principal terms relating to netting for fishing nets, together with their definitions or, in some cases, the method of expressing dimensions.

ISO 10556:2009 specifies requirements for 3-strand hawser-laid, 8-strand and 12-strand braided fibre ropes made of polyester in combination with polyolefin, and gives rules for their designation.

ISO 10547:2009 specifies requirements for double braided ropes and for higher-strength double braided ropes made of polyester and gives rules for their designation.

ISO 1969:2004 specifies requirements for 3-strand hawser-laid and 4-strand shroud laid ropes for general service (excluding fittings) made of polyethylene and gives rules for their designation.

ISO 1181:2004 specifies requirements for 3-strand hawser-laid and 4-strand shroud-laid ropes and 8-strand braided ropes for general service made of manila and sisal and gives rules for their designation.

ISO 1968:2004 specifies vocabulary relating to fibre ropes and cordage.

ISO 1530:2003 specifies the principal characteristics of knotted netting for fishing nets, and specifies the items of information to be furnished when ordering the netting. It is intended to facilitate the exchange of information between purchasers and suppliers of knotted netting for fishing nets.

ISO 1806:2002 specifies a method of determining the mesh-breaking force of netting for fishing.
Tests may be carried out in both the dry and wet states, but tests in the wet state are considered to be particularly appropriate in indicating the behaviour of the netting in use.

ISO 16663-2:2003 specifies a method for the determination of mesh length of fishing nets using a ruler. It is applicable to passive fishing gears.

This European Standard specifies the requirements for 3-, 4- and 9-strand laid ropes and plaited ropes made of hemp for general purposes.

ISO 2307:2010 specifies, for ropes of different kinds, a method of determining each of the following characteristics:
linear density;
lay length;
braid pitch;
elongation;
breaking force.
The linear density, lay length and braided pitch are measured with the rope under a specified tension called the reference tension.
The elongation corresponds to the measured increase in length of the rope when the tension to which it is subjected is increased from an initial value (reference tension) to a value equal to 50 % of the minimum specified breaking strength of the rope.
The breaking force is the maximum force registered (or reached) during a breaking test on the test piece, carried out on a tensile testing machine with constant rate of traverse of the moving element. The breaking force values given in the tables of rope specifications are only valid when this type of testing machine is used.
ISO 2307:2010 also provides a method for measuring water repellency, lubrication and finish content, and heat setting treatment, when requested by the customer.

ISO 9554:2010 specifies the general characteristics of fibre ropes and their constituent materials. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the standards for the individual types of fibre rope, which cover the physical properties and specific requirements for that particular product type.
ISO 9554:2010 also gives some information on the use of fibre ropes and also on their inspection and retirement criteria.
ISO 9554:2010 does not intend to address all of the safety matters associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user to select a rope type of the size and with the physical properties to meet the requirements of the application and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to its use.

ISO 1346:2004 specifies requirements for 3-strand hawser-laid and 4-strand shroud laid ropes and 8-strand braided ropes for general service made of polypropylene and gives rules for their designation.
