Specification for dedicated liquefied petroleum gas appliances - Domestic flueless space heaters (including diffusive catalytic combustion heaters)

This standard specifies the requirements, the test methods and the marketing of  domestic flueless space heaters, including diffusive catalytic combustion heaters, having a nominal heat input (Hs), not exceeding 4,2 kW burning 3rd family gases at nominal operating pressures not exceeding 50 mbar, referred to in the text as 'appliances'.

Diese Europäische Norm enthält die Anforderungen, die Prüfmethoden und die Kennzeichnung für häusliche, abzugslose Raumheizer, einschließlich Raumheizer mit diffusiver katalytischer Verbrennung, deren Nennwärmebelastung (HS) 4,2 kW nicht überschreitet, die mit Gasen der dritten Gasfamilie betrieben werden und deren Nenndruck 50 mbar nicht überschreitet. Diese Norm gilt für folgende Arten von Geräten:

Anforderungen an die rationelle Verwendung von Energie sind in dieser Europäischen Norm nicht enthalten, weil
c)   alle durch die Verbrennung erzeugte Wärme in den zu beheizenden Raum gelangt;
d)   die Anforderungen an die Verbrennungsgüte eine Sicherheitsanforderung ist und eine vollständige Verbrennung sichergestellt wird.
Diese Norm gilt nicht für Geräte, die mit elektrisch betriebenen Regel- und Sicherheitseinrichtungen ausgerüstet sind.
Anhang A zeigt Einzelheiten über die Gerätekategorien, die in den verschiedenen Ländern angewendet werden.
Die Anforderungen dieser Norm für Geräte setzen voraus, dass die Versorgung mit Flaschengas über ein Gasdruckregelgerät erfolgt, dessen höchster Nenn-Ausgangsdruck 50 mbar beträgt.
Diese Norm enthält keine Anforderungen an Flüssiggasflaschen und an die dazu gehörenden Flaschendruckregelgeräte und an bewegliche Schläuche, die den jeweiligen nationalen Anforderungen entsprechen müssen.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les prescriptions, les méthodes d'essais et le marquage des appareils domestiques de chauffage non raccordés à un conduit d'évacuation des produits de la combustion, y compris les appareils à combustion catalytique diffusive, dont le débit calorifique nominal est inférieur à 4,2 kW (HS), alimentés par des gaz de la 3e famille sous la pression nominale de service ne dépassant pas 50 mbar, désignés dans le texte par «appareils».
La présente Norme européenne est applicable aux types d'appareils suivants :
a)   appareils fixes fonctionnant au butane commercial et/ou au propane commercial ;
b)   appareils portatifs ou mobiles fonctionnant soit au butane commercial, soit au butane commercial et au propane commercial, y compris ceux qui ont un compartiment d’installation pour une bouteille portative rechargeable de gaz de pétrole liquéfié.
Aucune prescription particulière concernant le rendement thermique n'est définie pour ces types d'appareils car :
c)   toute la chaleur produite par le processus de la combustion se dégage dans l'espace à chauffer ;
d)   les exigences concernant la combustion, qui relèvent de la sécurité, garantissent la combustion du combustible gazeux .
La présente Norme européenne ne concerne pas les appareils incorporant des dispositifs électriques de contrôle du gaz.
L'annexe A donne les détails concernant les catégories d'appareils commercialisées dans les divers pays.
Les exigences pour les appareils données dans cette norme européenne supposent que l'alimentation en gaz à partir de la bouteille soit contrôlée par un détendeur dont la pression nominale maximale de détente atteint 50 mbar.
La présente norme européenne ne concerne pas les bouteilles de gaz de pétrole liquéfié, ni leurs détendeurs associés, ni les tubes et tuyaux flexibles, qui doivent être conformes aux réglementations nationales en vigueur.
La présente norme couvre uniquement les essais de type.

EN 449:2002+A1:2007 (CEN) is the European specification for dedicated liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) appliances: domestic flueless space heaters, including diffusive catalytic combustion heaters. It sets the requirements, test methods and marking for appliances with a nominal heat input (Hs) up to 4.2 kW burning 3rd‑family gases at nominal operating pressures up to 50 mbar. The standard covers fixed, portable and mobile heaters intended to release all combustion heat into the heated space.

EN 751-2. Soft solder shall not be used to ensure the soundness of the connections of the gas circuit. Removable components or the threaded parts of the pipe work which may be dismantled during normal maintenance shall remain sound after five disconnection’s, if necessary after changing a gasket, where such exists. Under the test condition specified in 6.6.2, the leak detected during each of the tests numbers 1 and 2 shall not exceed 0,07 dm3/h (dry air, 20 °C, 1 013,25 mbar). 5.7 Connections 5.7.1 Gas inlet The gas inlet to the appliance shall be one of the following types: a) for fixed appliances: 1) without a thread: for a length of at least 30 mm its extremity shall be cylindrical, smooth
and clean to allow connection by means of a gas-tight compression fitting; 2) with a thread: its extremity shall have a thread following ISO 228-1 or ISO 7-1, size 1/2, 3/8, 1/4 (major diameter 21 mm, 17 mm or 13 mm); 3) for connection to copper tube complying with EN 1057 (compression or capilliary fittings); b) for mobile and portable appliances: 1) with a nozzle for the attachment of a flexible tube; 2) a downward facing union connector for a hose assembly. The Special National Conditions with regard to connections are given in annex A. 5.7.2 Pressure test point For fixed appliances, means shall be provided to allow the pressure to be measured easily. The pressure test point in the gas circuit, if exists, shall have a nozzle with an external diameter of (0509,−) mm and shall be at least 10 mm long. The internal diameter shall not exceed 1 mm. 5.7.3 Connection with flexible houses having a threaded extremity The housing assembly shall be designed such as to resist to the tests described in 6.5 a). the openings in the upper section being at least 1/100 and in the base 1/50 of the floor area of the LPG container installation compartment;  the gas container support has sufficient mechanical strength to resist deformation under the load of a full LPG container; an arrangement with the gas container resting directly on the ground is unacceptable;  it has no sill higher than the base on which the gas container rests; SIST EN 449:2004+A1:2008

The crosslighting of appliances having burners subdivided into sections and between pilots and main burners shall be smooth and flames shall carry across to all ports and not light back to the injector when the appliance is tested in accordance with the method given in 6.20.4. 5.20.5 Delayed ignition on closed fronted fires When ignition is delayed by up to a maximum of 3 min and when tested in accordance with 6.20.5, using any rate available there shall be no hazard to the user or damage to the appliance which affects safety.
