ISO 4610:2001 specifies a method for the determination of the sieve retention and particle size distribution of preferably free-flowing vinyl chloride homopolymer and copolymer resins prepared by the 'suspension', 'bulk' and 'emulsion' polymerization processes. Control of these characteristics can help to ensure consistency of supply and predictable processing behaviour.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Siebrückstandes und Partikelgrößenverteilung von vorzugsweise rieselfähigen Vinylchlorid-Homo- und Copolymerisaten fest, die nach dem ¿Suspensions-", ¿Masse-" und ¿Emulsionspolymerisations"-Verfahren hergestellt sind. Die Kontrolle dieser Eigenschaften kann dazu dienen, die Gleichmäßigkeit der Lieferungen und das voraussichtliche Verhalten bei der Verarbeitung zu sichern.

L'ISO 4610:2001 spécifie une méthode de détermination des refus sur tamis et de la répartition granulométrique des résines d'homopolymères et de copolymères du chlorure de vinyle, de préférence susceptibles de s'écouler librement, préparées selon les procédés de polymérisation «en suspension», «en masse» et «en émulsion». La maîtrise de ces caractéristiques peut contribuer à garantir l'uniformité de la fourniture et un comportement prévisible à la mise en oeuvre.

The text of the International Standard from Technical Committee ISO/TC 61 "Plastics" of the
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has been taken over as a European Standard
by Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 "Plastics", the secretariat of which is held by IBN.
This document supersedes EN ISO 4610:1997.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2002, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by April 2002.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the
following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg,
