Metallic materials - Tube - Flanging test (ISO 8494:2013)

ISO 8494:2013 specifies a method for determining the ability of metallic tubes of circular cross-section to undergo plastic deformation during flange formation.
ISO 8494:2013 is intended for tubes having an outside diameter no greater than 150 mm and a wall thickness no greater than 10 mm, although the range of diameters or wall thickness for which ISO 8494:2013 is applicable may be more exactly specified in the relevant product standard.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Eignung metallischer Rohre mit kreisförmigem Querschnitt fest, während der Flanschbildung einer plastischen Verformung unterzogen zu werden.
Diese Internationale Norm ist für Rohre mit einem Außendurchmesser von höchstens 150 mm und einer Wanddicke von höchstens 10 mm vorgesehen, wenngleich der Bereich der Durchmesser oder der Wanddicken, für den diese Internationale Norm gilt, genauer in der entsprechenden Produktnorm festgelegt sein kann.

La présente Norme internationale est destinée aux tubes de diamètre extérieur au plus égal à 150 mm et d'épaisseur de paroi ne dépassant pas 10 mm, bien que la gamme de diamètres ou d'épaisseurs à laquelle la présente Norme internationale s'applique, puisse être spécifiée de façon plus précise dans la norme de produit concernée.

This document (EN ISO 8494:2013) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 164 "Mechanical
testing of metals" in collaboration with Technical Committee ECISS/TC 110 “Steel tubes, and iron and steel
fittings” the secretariat of which is held by UNI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2014, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the
latest by May 2014.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 8494:2004.

ISO 8495:2013 specifies a method for a ring-expanding test on tubes, that is used to reveal defects both on the surfaces and within the tube wall by expanding the test piece using a conical mandrel until fracture occurs. It may be also used to assess the ability of tubes to undergo plastic deformation.
The ring-expanding test is applicable to tubes having an outside diameter from 18 mm up to and including 150 mm and a wall thickness from 2 mm up to and including 16 mm.
