Plastics - Film and sheeting - Determination of the coefficients of friction (ISO 8295:1995)

Specifies a method for determining the coefficients of starting and sliding friction of plastics film and sheeting when sliding over the same or other substances. Serves primarily for quality control and does not give a comprehensive assessment of the machinability.

Kunststoffe - Folien und Bahnen - Bestimmung der Reibungskoeffizienten (ISO 8295:1995)

1.1   Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Start- und der Gleitreibungskoeffizienten von Kunststoff-Folien und -Bahnen beim Gleiten über sich selbst oder über andere Stoffe fest. Das Verfahren dient der Prüfung von nichtklebrigen Kunststoff-Folien und -Bahnen (im nachfolgenden Text einfach "Folie" genannt) mit einer Dicke von bis zu etwa 0,5 mm.
1.2   Dieses Prüfverfahren dient in erster Linie der Qualitätskontrolle. Es ermöglicht keine umfassende Beurteilung der Maschinengängigkeit auf Verpackungs- bzw. Verarbeitungsanlagen, da in der Regel auch andere Einflüsse wie z. B. elektrostatische Aufladung, Luftkissen, stellenweise erhöhte Temperaturen sowie Abrieb eine Rolle spielen.
1.3   Die statische Reibungskraft erhöht sich im Regelfall in Abhängigkeit von der Dauer des Kontakts zwischen den Flächen. Um vergleichbare Ergebnisse erzielen zu können, wird deshalb die Zeitspanne vorgegeben.
1.4   Gleiteigenschaften werden teilweise durch Zusatzmittel im Kunststoff erzeugt. Diese Zusatzstoffe sind in unterschiedlichem Maße mit der Folienmatrix verträglich. Sie können an der Oberfläche ausblühen oder sich absondern und dabei die Gleiteigenschaften verändern. Da diese Erscheinungen zeitabhängig sind, muss bei Messungen an solchen Folien das Alter der Folie berücksichtigt werden.

The text of ISO 8295:1995 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 61 "Plastics” of
the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO
8295:2004 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 "Plastics", the secretariat of which is held by
IBN.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by January 2005, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by January 2005.

According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium,
Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary,
