Safety in installations for electroheating and electromagnetic processing - Part 1: General requirements
IEC 60519-1:2015 specifies general safety requirements for industrial installations or equipment intended for electroheating (EH) and electroheating based treatment technologies as well as for electromagnetic processing of materials (EPM). This fifth edition cancels and replaces the fourth edition published in 2010. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) The title and scope of the standard has been expanded to include installations and equipment for electromagnetic processing of materials. b) Terms and definitions as well as the list of normative references have been updated and completed with new items. c) The requirements have been restructured. d) Additional requirements for electric and magnetic fields, for touch currents as well as for optical radiation have been added. e) New clauses addressing verification have been added. f) New annexes specifying limits of exposure hazards for electric and magnetic fields, optical radiation, noise and vibration have been added. g) New annexes on EMC, markings and warnings, guidelines for using this standard and information on the connection to ISO 13577-1 have been added.

L'IEC 60519-1:2015 spécifie les exigences de sécurité générales relatives aux installations ou équipements industriels destinés à l'électrothermie (EH) et aux technologies de traitement basées sur l'électrothermie ainsi qu'au traitement électromagnétique des matériaux (EPM). Cette cinquième édition annule et remplace la quatrième édition, parue en 2010. Cette édition constitue une révision technique. Cette édition inclut les modifications techniques majeures suivantes par rapport à l'édition précédente: a) Le titre et le domaine d'application de la norme ont été étendus pour inclure les installations et les équipements destinés au traitement électromagnétique des matériaux. b) les équipements destinés au traitement électromagnétique des matériaux. Les termes et définitions, ainsi que la liste des références normatives, ont été mis à jour et complétés par de nouveaux éléments. c) Les exigences ont été restructurées. d) Des exigences supplémentaires relatives aux champs électriques et magnétiques, aux courants de contact, ainsi qu'aux rayonnements optiques, ont été ajoutées. e) De nouveaux articles traitant de la vérification ont été ajoutés. f) De nouvelles annexes spécifiant les limites des dangers d'exposition aux champs électriques et magnétiques, au rayonnement optique, au bruit et aux vibrations ont été ajoutées. g) De nouvelles annexes sur la CEM, les marquages et avertissements, les lignes directrices pour l'utilisation de la présente norme et des informations concernant le lien avec l'ISO 13577-1 ont été ajoutées.

Ta del standarda IEC 60519 določa splošne varnostne zahteve za industrijske naprave ali opremo, namenjeno obdelovalnim tehnologijam za električno ogrevanje (EH) in na podlagi električnega ogrevanja ter za elektromagnetno obdelavo materialov (EPM).
Zahteve se uporabljajo za industrijske naprave ali opremo, ki se lahko uporablja kot:
– oprema za neposredno in posredno uporovno gretje,
– oprema za električne uporovne grelne trake,
– oprema za indukcijsko gretje,
– oprema, ki izkorišča učinek elektromagnetnih sil na materiale,
– oprema za obločno gretje, vključno z zakritim obločnim gretjem,
– oprema za pretaljenje pod električno prevodno žlindro,
– opremo za plazemsko gretje in površinsko obdelavo s plazmo,
– oprema za mikrovalovno gretje,
– oprema za dielektrično gretje,
– oprema, ki uporablja elektronske pištole,
– oprema za infrardeče sevalno gretje,
– oprema za lasersko gretje.
OPOMBA: Seznam predstavlja običajne primere opreme in njenih uporab ter ni izčrpen. Splošne varnostne zahteve za različne vrste opreme in naprav za električno ogrevanje ali elektromagnetno obdelavo materialov izhajajo iz skupne uporabe splošnih zahtev, opredeljenih v tem standardu, ter posebnih zahtev, ki zajemajo posebne vrste naprav ali opreme (smernice so podane v dodatku G). Če posamezne naprave ali opreme ne zajema nobena posebna zahteva, se kot take uporabljajo splošne zahteve. Ta standard se ne uporablja za opremo in naprave v okviru skupin standardov:
– IEC 60079, tj. opremo ali naprave, namenjene uporabi v potencialno eksplozivnih atmosferah;
– IEC 60335, tj. gospodinjske, komercialne in podobne električne aparate, vključno z aparati za sobno ogrevanje;
– IEC 60601, tj. medicinsko električno opremo;
– IEC 60974, tj. opremo za obločno varjenje;
– IEC 61010, tj. opremo za laboratorijsko uporabo.

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC
Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested
in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-
governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely
with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by
agreement between the two organizations.
2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international
consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has representation from all
interested IEC National Committees.
3) IEC Publications have the form of recommendations for international use and are accepted by IEC National
Committees in that sense. While all reasonable efforts are made to ensure that the technical content of IEC
Publications is accurate, IEC cannot be held responsible for the way in which they are used or for any
misinterpretation by any end user.
4) In order to promote international uniformity, IEC National Committees undertake to apply IEC Publications
transparently to the maximum extent possible in their national and regional publications. Any divergence
between any IEC Publication and the corresponding national or regional publication shall be clearly indicated in
the latter.
5) IEC itself does not provide any attestation of conformity. Independent certification bodies provide conformity
