Controllers with analogue signals for use in industrial-process control systems - Part 2: Guidance for inspection and routine testing

IEC 60546-2:2010 applies to pneumatic and electrical industrial-process controllers using analogue signals which are in accordance with IEC 60381-1 and IEC 60381-2. The provisions of this standard are applicable in principle to controllers having different, but continuous signals. It provides technical guidance for inspection and routine testing of controllers, for instance, as acceptance tests or after repair. For a full evaluation, IEC 60546-1 should be used. Quantitative criteria for acceptable performance are established by agreement between manufacturer and user. The requirements of this standard are effective when agreed upon by the manufacturer and the user. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition, published in 1987. It constitutes a minor technical revision made to bring some terms, measurement units and references up to date.

La CEI 60546-2:2010 s'applique aux régulateurs pneumatiques et électriques pour les processus industriels, utilisant des signaux analogiques conformes à la CEI 60381-1 et à la CEI 60381-2. Les dispositions prévues dans la présente norme sont en principe applicables à des régulateurs utilisant des signaux différents, mais continus. Elle a pour but de fournir un guide technique pour les essais d'inspection et les essais individuels de série des régulateurs utilisés, par exemple, comme essais de réception ou après réparation. Pour une évaluation complète, il convient de se référer à la CEI 60546-1. Les critères quantitatifs d'acceptation sont établis par accord entre le constructeur et l'utilisateur. Les exigences de la présente norme ne sont effectives qu'avec l'accord du constructeur et de l'utilisateur. Cette deuxième édition annule et remplace la première édition, parue en 1987 et constitue une révision technique mineure, élaborée pour mettre à jour certains termes, certaines unités de mesure et certaines références.

Ta mednarodni standard velja za pnevmatične in električne krmilnike procesov z analognimi signali, ki so v skladu z IEC 60381-1 in IEC 60381-2. Določbe tega standarda načeloma veljajo za krmilnike, ki imajo različne, vendar neprekinjene signale. Ta standard je namenjen temu, da zagotavlja tehnično vodilo za rutinski pregled krmilnikov, kot so na primer preskusi sprejemljivosti ali pa po popravilu. Za celotno ovrednotenje se uporablja IEC 60546-1. Kvantitativna merila za sprejemljivo delovanje so vzpostavljena z dogovorom med proizvajalcem in uporabnikom. Zahteve tega standarda učinkujejo, če so dogovorjene med proizvajalcem in uporabnikom.

The text of document 65B/660/CDV, future edition 2 of IEC 60546-2, prepared by SC 65B, Devices &

process analysis, of IEC TC 65, Industrial-process measurement, control and automation, was submitted

to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by CENELEC as EN 60546-2 on 2010-09-01.

This European Standard supersedes EN 60549-2:1993.

FOREWORD

1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising

all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote

international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To

this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,

Technical Reports, Publicly Available Specifications (PAS) and Guides (hereafter referred to as “IEC

Publication(s)”). Their preparation is entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested

in the subject dealt with may participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-

governmental organizations liaising with the IEC also participate in this preparation. IEC collaborates closely

with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in accordance with conditions determined by

agreement between the two organizations.

2) The formal decisions or agreements of IEC on technical matters express, as nearly as possible, an international

consensus of opinion on the relevant subjects since each technical committee has representation from all

interested IEC National Committees.
