Ta del standarda IEC 61883 določa protokol za prenos nestisnjenih ali stisnjenih video podatkov v formatu 4:2:2 v priporočeni obliki ITU-R BT.601 (vključno s končnicami, združljivimi s to obliko zapisa, za višje in nižje ločljivosti drugih običajnih ločljivosti videa) preko visoko zmogljivega serijskega vodila, kot je določeno s standardom IEEE Std 1394-1995 in spremenjeno s standardoma IEEE Std 1394a-2000 in IEEE Std 1394b-2002 (skupaj IEEE 1394). Oblike zapisa podatkov za ovijanje video podatkov so združljive s tistimi, ki so določene s standardom IEC 61883-1. – Video komunikatorji za zabavno elektroniko ali DVD-video, ki ga upodablja več domačih zaslonov;
– avtomobilska navigacija in zabava; in
– zabava na letalih med letom.
Zaradi medobratovalnosti in povezane zapletenosti izvedbe je nujno, da specifikacije zagotavljajo naslednje:
– seznam kodekov za stiskanje, ki ga nadzira panožno združenje 1394 TA; in
– najmanj sklic na en kodek za stiskanje videa.

This amendment A1 modifies the European Standard EN 61883-8:2009; it was approved by CENELEC on 2014-
03-21. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate
the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language
made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to the
CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as the official versions.
