This amendment A11 modifies the European Standard EN IEC 62841-2-7:2024; it was approved by CENELEC on 2024-08-05. CENELEC
members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the
status of a national standard without any alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on application to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other language made by translation under the

European foreword
This document (EN IEC 62841-2-7:2024/A11:2024) has been prepared by CLC/TC 116 “Safety and
environmental aspects of motor-operated electric tools”.
The following dates are fixed:
• latest date by which this document has to be (dop) 2025-08-05
implemented at national level by publication of
an identical national standard or by
endorsement
• latest date by which the national standards (dow) 2028-08-05
conflicting with this document have to be
withdrawn
This document modifies by common modifications EN IEC 62841-2-7:2024, which consists of the text of
116/740/FDIS (future IEC 62841-2-7, Ed. 1) prepared by IEC/TC 116 “Safety of motor-operated electric tools”.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CENELEC shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This series is divided into four parts.
Part 1: General requirements which are common to most hand-held electric motor operated tools (for the
purpose of this document referred to simply as tools) which could come within the scope of this document;
Part 2, 3 or 4: Requirements for particular types of tools which either supplement or modify the requirements
given in Part 1 to account for the particular hazards and characteristics of these specific tools.
The Part 2-7 is used in conjunction with EN 62841-1:2015 and its EN 62841-1:2015/A11:2022.
The Part 2-7 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses in EN 62841-1:2015 and its
EN 62841-1:2015/A11:2022, so as to convert it into the European Standard: Particular requirements for hand-
held spray guns.
Where a particular subclause of Part 1 is not mentioned in the Part 2-7, that subclause applies. When this
document states “addition”, “modification” or “replacement”, the relevant text in Part 1 is to be adapted
accordingly.
The following print types are used:
— requirements; in roman type;
— test specifications: in italic type;
— notes: in smaller roman type.
The terms defined in Clause 3 are printed in bold typeface.
Subclauses, notes, tables and figures which are additional to those in Part 1 are numbered starting from 101.
Clauses, subclauses, notes, tables, figures and annexes which are additional to those in IEC 62841-2-7:2024
are prefixed “Z”.
This document follows the overall requirements of EN ISO 12100.
This document has been prepared under a standardization request addressed to CENELEC by the European
Commission. The Standing Committee of the EFTA States subsequently approves these requests for its
Member States.
For the relationship with EU Legislation, see informative Annex ZZ, which is an integral part of this document.
Compliance with the clauses of Part 1 together with Part 2-7 provides one means of conforming with the
essential health and safety requirements of the Directive concerned.
Any feedback and questions on this document should be directed to the users’ national committee. A complete
listing of these bodies can be found on the CENELEC website.
1 Modifications to Annex I, “Measurement of noise and vibration emissions”
Replace the title of Annex I with the following:
“Annex I
(normative)
Measurement of noise and vibration emissions”
and delete the NOTE.
Replace the existing subclause I.2.6 with the following:
“I.2.6  Measurement uncertainties
The total measurement uncertainties of the noise emission values determined according to this standard are
depending on the standard deviation of reproducibility σ given by the applied basic noise emission
R0
measurement method and the uncertainty associated with the instability of the operating and mounting
conditions σ . The resulting total uncertainty is then calculated from:
omc
σ σ+σ
tot R0 omc
NOTE 1 The standard deviation σtot is referred to in EN ISO 4871:2009 as the standard deviation of reproducibility σR.
The upper bound value of σ is 1,5 dB for grade-2-measurement methods, and 3 dB for grade-3-methods,
R0
assuming noise sources which emit sound without significant tones. These values apply for both the determined
A-weighted emission sound pressure level and the A-weighted sound power level.
NOTE 2 For machines with a rather constant noise emission σomc is typically 0,5 dB. In other cases, e.g. a large influence
of the material flow into and out of the machine or material flow that varies in an unpredictable manner, it may be that a
value of 2 dB is more appropriate. Methods to determine σomc are described in the basic noise emission measurement
standards.
The expanded measurement uncertainty U, in decibels, shall be calculated from:
U = k σ , where k is the coverage factor.
tot
NOTE 3 The expanded measurement uncertainty U depends on the degree of confidence that is desired. For the purpose
of comparing the result with a limit value, it is appropriate to apply the coverage factor for a one-sided normal distribution.
In that case, the usually applied coverage factor of k = 1,6 corresponds to a 95 % confidence level. Further information is
given in EN ISO 4871:2009, where the expanded measurement uncertainty U is denoted as K, thus KpA, KWA equivalent to
UpA respectively UWA.
The expanded measurement uncertainty U as describ
