This draft amendment prAA, if approved, will modify the European Standard prEN IEC 60335-2-11:2025; it is submitted to CENELEC
members for enquiry.
Deadline for CENELEC: 2026-02-06.
It has been drawn up by CLC/TC 61.
If this draft becomes an amendment, CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which
stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any alteration.
This draft amendment was established by CENELEC in three official versions (English, French, German).
A version in any other language made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and notified to
the CEN-CENELEC Management Centre has the same status as the official versions.

18 prEN IEC 60335-2-11:2025/prAA:2025 includes the following significant technical modifications:
19 — Introduce requirements and instruction for children, people with disabilities and domestic animals;
20 — Rusting test for product to be used outdoor;
21 — Routine tests are not covered;
22 — Vibration, pulse and mechanical hazards caused by environmental condition in board ships, aircraft and
23 vehicles are not covered by this standard;
24 — Introduce mechanical test set-up clarifications;
25 — Introduce construction test set-up clarifications.
26 — Add test probe 19 in 20.2.
27 This document is read in conjunction with prEN IEC 60335-2-11:2025.
28 The numbering system for European clauses, subclauses, notes, tables, figures and annexes that are additional
29 to those in the IEC standard are prefixed with the letter “Z”.

43 Replace the fifth, sixth, seventh and eight paragraphs starting with “Appliances not intended…” up to “…children
44 playing with the appliance” with the following:
45 “Appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops and other premises for normal housekeeping purposes are
46 within the scope of this document.
47 NOTE Z101 Examples of appliance for household environment are appliances for typical housekeeping functions used in
48 the household environment that can also be used by non-expert users for typical housekeeping functions:
49 — in shops and other similar working environments;
50 — in farm houses;

68 Replace the fourth paragraph starting with “This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including
69 children)…” with:
70 “The instructions shall state the substance of the following:
71 — People with disabilities can use this appliance but may need additional precautions to be taken. This
72 appliance may be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of
73 experience and knowledge, when they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the
74 appliance or machine by a person responsible for their safety.
75 — This appliance may be used by children from the age 8 years if they are continuously supervised.
76 — Children and domestic animals should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
77 — Keep the appliance out of reach of children aged less than 8 years and domestic animals.
78 — Check that there are no children or domestic animals inside the compartment/cavity of the appliance before
79 use.
80 — Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be carried out by children.”
81 In the addition replace the list item starting with “Fill steam generator” with the following:
82 “— Fill steam generators only with liquids specified in the instructions.”
83 Add the following:
84 “The packaging shall also state the maximum weight of the appliance including accessories and its packaging.”
