FOREWORD
1) The IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of the IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, the IEC publishes International Standards. Their preparation is
entrusted to technical committees; any IEC National Committee interested in the subject dealt with may
participate in this preparatory work. International, governmental and non-governmental organizations liaising
with the IEC also participate in this preparation. The IEC collaborates closely with the International Organization

packs which are applicable to the whole recording system of helical-scan digital video cassette.
Part 1 describes the common specifications for the helical-scan digital video cassette recording
system using 6,35 mm magnetic tape.
Part 2 describes the specifications for 525-60 and 625-50 systems which are not included in
Part 1.
Part 3 describes the specifications for 1125-60 and 1250-50 systems which are not included in
Part 1 and Part 2.
Part 5 describes the character information system which is applicable to the whole recording
system of helical-scan digital video cassette.

1 General
1.1 Scope
This part of IEC 61834 specifies the pack headers and the contents of packs which are
applicable to the whole recording system of helical-scan digital video cassette using 6,35 mm
magnetic tape.

AVANT-PROPOS
1) La CEI (Commission Électrotechnique Internationale) est une organisation mondiale de normalisation composée
de l'ensemble des comités électrotechniques nationaux (Comités nationaux de la CEI). La CEI a pour objet de
favoriser la coopération internationale pour toutes les questions de normalisation dans les domaines de
l'électricité et de l'électronique. A cet effet, la CEI, entre autres activités, publie des Normes internationales.
Leur élaboration est confiée à des comités d'études, aux travaux desquels tout Comité national intéressé par le
sujet traité peut participer. Les organisations internationales, gouvernementales et non gouvernementales, en
liaison avec la CEI, participent également aux travaux. La CEI collabore étroitement avec l'Organisation
Internationale de Normalisation (ISO), selon des conditions fixées par accord entre les deux organisations.
2) Les décisions ou accords officiels de la CEI concernant les questions techniques représentent, dans la mesure
du possible, un accord international sur les sujets étudiés, étant donné que les Comités nationaux intéressés
sont représentés dans chaque comité d’études.

Ce document est la Partie 4 de la CEI 61834 et décrit les tableaux des paquets en-tête et leur
contenu qui s’appliquent à tous les magnétoscopes numériques à cassette à balayage
hélicoïdal.
La Partie 1 décrit les spécifications communes aux magnétoscopes numériques à cassette à
balayage hélicoïdal utilisant la bande magnétique de 6,35 mm.
La Partie 2 décrit les spécifications des magnétoscopes 525-60 et 625-50 qui ne sont pas
incluses dans la partie 1.
La Partie 3 décrit les spécifications des magnétoscopes 1125-60 et 1250-50 qui ne sont
incluses ni dans la partie 1 ni dans la Partie 2.
La Partie 5 décrit la structure des jeux de caractères s’appliquant à tous les magnétoscopes
numériques à cassette à balayage hélicoïdal.
Pour la fabrication des magnétoscopes numériques à cassette SD, il est fait référence aux
Parties 1, 2, 3 et 4.
Pour la fabrication des magnétoscopes numériques HD, il est fait référence aux Parties 1, 2, 3,
4 et 5.
Il faut faire référence à la présente partie de la CEI 61834 en particulier si l'on doit vérifier les
tableaux des paquets en-tête et leur contenu.
Seule la version anglaise de cette norme, parue en juillet 1998, a été approuvée par les
comités nationaux.
En cas de divergence entre la version française et la version anglaise, l'anglais fait foi.

La présente partie de la CEI 61834 spécifie les en-tête des paquets et leur contenu applicables
à l'ensemble du magnétoscope numériques à cassette à balayage hélicoïdal utilisant la bande
magnétique de 6,35 mm.
