Plastics piping and ducting systems — Plastics pipes and fittings — Method for exposure to direct (natural) weathering
ISO 16871:2003 specifies a method for exposing plastics pipes and fittings, individually or assembled, or as pieces therefrom, to natural weathering in order to assess changes. The exposure is considered appropriate for evaluating components subject to yard storage prior to installation and use without further exposure to direct weathering, and is quantified to promote rationalization of exposure doses and comparability of data. For exposures appropriate to tropical or equatorial conditions, attention is drawn to ISO 877.

L'ISO 16871:2003 spécifie une méthode d'exposition des tubes et raccords en plastique, pris individuellement ou assemblés, ou de parties prélevées, par exposition directe aux intempéries afin d'évaluer les changements produits. L'exposition est considérée comme appropriée pour l'évaluation des composants sujets au stockage extérieur avant l'installation et utilisés sans autre exposition directe aux intempéries. Elle est quantifiée pour promouvoir la rationalisation des doses d'exposition et la comparaison des données. Se reporter à l'ISO 877 pour les conditions d'exposition adaptées aux tropiques ou à l'équateur.

Foreword
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies
(ISO member bodies). The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO
technical committees. Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been
established has the right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental and
non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on all matters of electrotechnical standardization.
International Standards are drafted in accordance with the rules given in the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2.
The main task of technical committees is to prepare International Standards. Draft International Standards
adopted by the technical committees are circulated to the member bodies for voting. Publication as an
International Standard requires approval by at least 75 % of the member bodies casting a vote.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent

Avant-propos
L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de
normalisation (comités membres de l'ISO). L'élaboration des Normes internationales est en général confiée
aux comités techniques de l'ISO. Chaque comité membre intéressé par une étude a le droit de faire partie du
comité technique créé à cet effet. Les organisations internationales, gouvernementales et non
gouvernementales, en liaison avec l'ISO participent également aux travaux. L'ISO collabore étroitement avec
la Commission électrotechnique internationale (CEI) en ce qui concerne la normalisation électrotechnique.
