The standard specifies three foam types by chemistry and mechanical performance:

  • Type 1: polyether

    • Retention after humidity and heat ageing (ISO 2440): tensile strength and elongation ≥ 80% of initial values.
  • Solvent swelling (Annex B): Temporary and permanent swelling limits after immersion in perchloroethylene (or agreed solvent); detailed procedure and formulae provided.
  • Packaging & marking: Manufacturer ID, batch number, nominal thickness/width/length, and ISO 6915 document/type must be marked.

4.1 The material shall consist of a uniform network of cells and shall be free from any flaws, stains and
other defects which might detrimentally affect the serviceability.
4.2 Material of thickness up to and including 6 mm shall lie flat when laid on a flat surface.
4.3 The material shall have no holes more than 3 mm in diameter through the full thickness of the
