BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 2150, Continuous mechanical handling equipment for unit loads - Overhead
twin rail chain conveyors (power and free) - Safety code, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 1 01,
Continuous mechanical handling equipment, the Secretariat of which is held by the Association Française de
Normalisation (AFNOR).
Work on this question led to the adoption of Draft IS0 Recommendation No. 21 50, which was circulated to
all the IS0 Member Bodies for enquiry in October 1970.
The Draft has been approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature, by the following Member
Bodies :

1. SCOPE
This IS0 Recommendation specifies, in addition to the general safety rules set out in IS0 Recommendation
R 181 9, Continuous mechanical handling equipment - Safety code - General rules, the special safety rules for
the following continuous mechanical handling equipment for unit loads : overhead twin rail chain conveyors
(power and free).
2. FIELD OF APPLICATION
The safety rules laid down in this IS0 Recommendation apply regardless of the use for which the equipment is
intended.

La Recommandation ISO/R 21 50, Engins de manutention continue pour charges isolées ~ Convoyeurs aériens
à double voie - Code de sécurité, a été élaborée par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 101, Engins de manutention continue,
dont le Secrétariat est assuré par l’Association Française de Normalisation (AFNOR).

Les travaux relatifs à cette question aboutirent à l’adoption du Projet de Recommandation IS0 No 2150 qui
fut soumis, en octobre 1970, à l’enquête de tous les Comités Membres de l’IS0.
Le Projet a été approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications d’ordre rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres
suivants :

1. OBJET
La présente Recommandation IS0 précise, en complément des règles de sécurité générales exposées dans la Recom-
mandation ISO/R 18 19, Engins de manutention continue - Code de sécurité - Règles générales, les règles de sécu-
rité particulières aux engins de manutention continue pour charges isolées suivants : convoyeurs aériens à double
voie.
2. DOMAINE D’APPLICATION
Les règles de sécurité établies dans la présente Recommandation IS0 sont applicables quelle que soit la destination
du matériel.
Ces règles de sécurité limitent la responsabilité des constructeurs aux engins de manutention continue proprement
dits, à l’exclusion des structures sur lesquelles ces équipements sont fixés.
