FOREWORD
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation
of national standards institutes (IS0 Member Bodies). The work of developing
International Standards is carried out through IS0 Technical Committees. Every
Member Body interested in a subject for which a Technical Committee has been set
up has the right to be represented on that Committee. International organizations,
governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the Technical Committees are circulated
to the Member Bodies for approval before their acceptance as International
Standards by the IS0 Council.
International Standard IS0 3041 was drawn up by Technical Committee
ISO/TC 44, Welding, and circulated to the Member Bodies in October 1973.

La définition des exigences auxquelles doivent satisfaire les joints soudés doit être
telle qu’elle conduise à la réalisation de joints soudés dont le niveau de qualité soit
indépendant du pays où ces joints sont réalisés et/ou de l’autorité d‘inspection qui
les a contrôlés.
La présente Norme Internationale, qui est l’une d‘une série concernant l’unification
des exigences relatives au soudage, a été établie pour éviter que des différences
significatives dans les joints soudés réalisés ne soient dues au fait que les exigences
en service n‘aient pas été convenablement spécifiées.
Elle ne doit pas être considérée comme une simple énumération des exigences en
service. Son but est d‘apporter des informations permettant à un organisme qui s‘y
réfère de déterminer, pour chaque construction particulière envisagée, l’importance
relative de chaque paramètre.
C’est le cas des comités d’application qui l‘utiliseront comme guide dans la
préparation de spécifications relatives à des types particuliers de construction, par
exemple, appareils à pression, charpentes, appareils de manutention et de levage,
