Overview

ISO 10033-2:2011 defines the bonding quality requirements for Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) bonded with thermosetting resins. It specifies how to classify LVL into bonding classes according to intended end use and moisture exposure, and it sets pass/fail criteria based on delamination after prescribed pre-treatments and tests (test procedures are given in ISO 10033-1).   • Minimum of two test pieces per sample; for classes requiring two pre‑treatments each treatment is applied to separate test pieces.
• Accepted test routes (ISO 10033-1)
  • Shear test (Annex A) - gluelines must also satisfy ISO 12466-2 requirements.
  • Chisel/knife testing (Annex B) - average bond quality per glueline ≥ 2 and overall bond quality ≥ 5.

Foreword
