Foreword
IS0 (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of
national standards institutes (IS0 member bodies). The work of developing Inter-
national Standards is carried out through IS0 technical committees. Every member
body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been set up has the
right to be represented on that committee. International organizations, governmental
and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work.
Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to
the member bodies for approval before their acceptance as International Standards by
the IS0 Council.
International Standard IS0 657/14 was developed by Technical Committee ISO/TC 5,
Ferrous metalpipes and metalk fittings. The first edition (IS0 657114-1977) had been
approved by the member bodies of the following countries :
Australia Poland
Germany, F. R.
Belgium India Romania
Canada Israel
South Africa, Rep. of
Chile Italy Switzerland
Czechoslovakia Korea, Rep. of Turkey
Denmark Mexico United Kingdom
Egypt, Arab Rep. of Netherlands USSR
Finland New Zealand
France Norway
The member bodies of the following countries had exp disapproval of the docu-
ment on technical g rounds :
Sweden
USA
This second edition, which cancels and replaces IS0 657/W1977, incorporates draft
Amendment 1, which was circulated to the member bodies in February 1981 and has
been approved by the member ,bodies of the following countries :

8 Tolerances
For all structural hollow sections the sectional properties are
based on the specified outside dimensions and thicknesses.
Tolerances are given in table 2.
For square and rectangular sections the sectional properties are
calculated using the corner radius (rCaIc) as given in table 1

Avant-propos
Allemagne, R.F. France Roumanie
Australie Inde Royaume- Uni
Belgique Israël Suisse
Italie Tchécoslovaquie
Canada
Chili Mexique Turquie
Finlande Pays-Bas
Autriche France Pologne
