ISO/TC 5/SC 1 - Steel tubes

ISO 10799-1:2011 specifies the technical delivery requirements for cold-formed welded structural hollow sections of circular, square or rectangular form. It is applicable to structural hollow sections formed cold without subsequent heat treatment. ISO 10799-1:2011 gives the grades, chemical composition and mechanical properties for non-alloy steels and fine grain steels.

ISO 10799-2:2011 specifies the tolerances for cold-formed welded circular, square and rectangular structural hollow sections, and gives the dimensions and sectional properties for a range of standard sizes.

ISO 12633-1:2011 specifies the technical delivery requirements for hot-finished hollow sections of circular, square or rectangular form. It is applicable to hollow sections formed hot with or without subsequent heat treatment or formed cold with subsequent heat treatment to obtain equivalent metallurgical conditions to those obtained in the hot-formed product. Fine grain steels are generally delivered in the normalized condition. ISO 12633-1:2011 gives the grades, chemical composition and mechanical properties for non-alloy steels and fine grain steels.

ISO 12633-2:2011 specifies the tolerances for hot-finished circular, square and rectangular structural hollow sections, and gives the dimensions and sectional properties for a range of standard sizes.

The outside diameters and thicknesses of the tubes have been selected from ISO 4200. If thicknesses greater than 14,2 mm are needed, they should be choosen from ISO 4200. Specifies the diameters, tolerances and other parameters of tubes. It tabulates conventional masses for austenitic (table 1) and for ferritic and martensitic (table 2) stainless steel tubes.

Specifies the dimensions, tolerances, surface roughness, materials and hygienic requirements for seamless or welded tubes in straight length for the food industry.

Gives values of both plain end tubes for general purpose use and precision tubes. Its purpose is to give guidance on the selection of sizes for all activities concerned with the standardization of steel tubes, both nationally and internationally, to serve as a ready reckoner and to avoid the use by different countries of different masses for a tube of the same size. It is not applicable to tubes primarily intended to be screwed. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (1985), tables 2 and 3 of which have been technically revised by the addition of the outside diameter of 12.7 mm to series 2.

Specifies the majority of tolerances on dimensions used by ISO/TC 5/SC 1 in drawing up International Standards concerning steel tubes. Is intended for use as a basic document by all ISO technical committees concerned with the standardization of steel tubes. It cannot, therefore, be used as a standard for the definiton of a product. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (1977), the standardized tolerances on thickness of which have been technically revised.

Does not apply to steel tubes in accordance with ISO 65 and similar plain end tubes. Contains references, definitions, informations to be supplied by the purchaser, and data relating to manufacturing process, chemical composition, mechanical properties and weldability, dimensions, masses and tolerances, appearance and soundness, inspection and testing, marking, lining or coating and documents.

For square and rectangular sections, the sectional properties are calculated using the corner radius as given in table 1. Table 2 includes tolerances.

Specifies the most usual preparation for welding, gives symbols, tabulates thicknesses together with designation, symbols, forms of ends (illustrated by figures), and dimension (degrees and root face width).

It does not apply für tubes according to ISO 6758 and ISO 6759.
