Introduction

In hydraulic fluid power systems, power is transmitted and controlled through a liquid under pressure within an

enclosed circuit. A hose assembly is a flexible fluid power conductor consisting of a length of hose attached, at both

ends, to hose fittings.

1 Scope

This International Standard specifies uniform test methods for evaluating the performance of hoses and hose

assemblies (hoses and attached hose fittings) used in hydraulic fluid power systems.

Specific tests and performance criteria for evaluating hoses and hose assemblies used in hydraulic applications are

in accordance with the requirements of the respective product (hoses or hose fitting) specifications.

4 Visual examination of product

Hose assemblies shall be visually inspected to determine that the correct hose fittings are properly installed.

5 Standard tests
5.1 Dimensional check test
5.1.1 General

NOTE These test methods are technically equivalent to those specified in ISO 4671.

The hoses shall be inspected for conformity with all the dimensions of the relevant hose specification.

5.1.2 Measurement of outside and reinforcement diameters

5.1.2.1 Determine finished outside diameter and reinforcement diameter, where required, by calculation from

measurement of the respective circumference. As an alternative, a flexible graduated tape may be used to read the

diameters directly.

5.1.2.2 Take outside diameter measurements at a minimum of 25 mm from the hose ends.

5.1.3 Measurement of inside diameter

5.1.3.1 Measure the inside diameter by means of a suitable expanding ball or telescoping gauge in accordance with

method 2 given in ISO 4671:1999.

5.1.3.2 Take inside diameter measurements at a minimum of from the hose ends.
5.1.4 Measurement of concentricity

5.1.4.1 Measure concentricity over both the reinforcement and the finished outside diameters using either a dial

indicator gauge or a micrometer.

5.1.4.2 Take concentricity measurements at a minimum of 15 mm from the hose ends.

5.1.4.3 Round the foot of the measuring instrument to conform to the inside diameter of the hose.

5.1.4.4 Take readings at 90 (1,57 rad) intervals around the hose. Acceptability is based on the total variation

between the highest and lowest readings.
5.2 Proof test

5.2.1 Test the hose assemblies hydrostatically to the specified proof pressure in accordance with the relevant

30 s 60 s

product specification using the method specified in ISO 1402, for a period of between and for all sizes.

5.2.2 Hose assemblies that exhibit no leakage or other evidence of failure after being subjected to the proof test

shall be deemed to have passed the test.
5.3 Change-in-length test

5.3.1 Conduct measurements for the determination of elongation or contraction on a previously unused, unaged

hose assembly having a free length between hose fittings of at least 600 mm.

5.3.2 Attach the hose assembly to the pressure source in an unrestricted straight position. If the hose is not straight

due to its natural curvature, it may be fastened laterally to achieve a straight position. Pressurize to the operating

pressure for a period of 30 s, then release the pressure.

5.3.3 Place accurate reference marks 500 mm (l ) apart on the outer cover of the hose, midway between hose

fittings, after allowing the hose assembly to restabilize for a period of 30 s following pressure release.

5.3.4 Repressurize the hose assembly to the specified operating pressure for a period of 30 s.

5.3.5 Measure the distance between reference marks while the hose is pressurized and record this as l .

5.3.6 Determine the change in length using the following formula in accordance with ISO 1402:

l is the distance between the reference marks after the hose assembly restabilizes pressurized following

the initial pressurization and release of pressure, in millimetres;

l is the distance between the reference marks while the hose assembly is under pressure, in millimetres;

is the percentage change in length, which will be positive ( ) in the case of an increase in length and

negative (−) in the case of a decrease in length.
5.4 Burst test
5.4.1 General

This is a destructive test. Hose assemblies that have been subjected to this test should be destroyed.

5.4.2 Procedure

5.4.2.1 Subject hose assemblies on which the hose fittings have been attached for less than 30 days to a

hydrostatic pressure, increased at a constant rate in accordance with ISO 1402.

Avant-propos

L'ISO (Organisation internationale de normalisation) est une fédération mondiale d'organismes nationaux de

normalisation (comités membres de l'ISO). L'élaboration des Normes internationales est en général confiée aux

comités techniques de l'ISO. Chaque comité membre intéressé par une étude a le droit de faire partie du comité

technique créé à cet effet. Les organisations internationales, gouvernementales et non gouvernementales, en liaison

avec l'ISO participent également aux travaux. L'ISO collabore étroitement avec la Commission électrotechnique

internationale (CEI) en ce qui concerne la normalisation électrotechnique.

Les Normes internationales sont rédigées conformément aux règles données dans les Directives ISO/CEI, Partie 3.

Les projets de Normes internationales adoptés par les comités techniques sont soumis aux comités membres pour

Introduction

Dans les systèmes de transmissions hydrauliques, l'énergie est transmise et commandée par l'intermédiaire d'un

liquide sous pression circulant en circuit fermé. Un ensemble flexible est un conducteur souple de transmissions

hydrauliques consistant en une longueur de tuyau attachée, à ses deux extrémités, à des embouts.

1 Domaine d'application

La présente Norme internationale spécifie des méthodes d'essai uniformes pour l'évaluation des performances des

tuyaux et ensembles flexibles (tuyaux flexibles et raccordements flexibles) utilisés dans les systèmes de

transmissions hydrauliques.

Les essais spécifiques et critères de performance pour l'évaluation des tuyaux et ensembles flexibles utilisés en

transmissions hydrauliques sont conformes aux exigences des spécifications de produits (tuyaux ou raccordements

flexibles) respectives.

Les documents normatifs suivants contiennent des dispositions qui, par suite de la référence qui y est faite,

constituent des dispositions valables pour la présente Norme internationale. Pour les références datées, les

amendements ultérieurs ou les révisions de ces publications ne s'appliquent pas. Toutefois, les parties prenantes

4 Examen visuel du produit

Les ensembles flexibles doivent être inspectés visuellement afin de déterminer que les embouts corrects soient bien

installés.
5 Essais normalisés
5.1 Contrôle dimensionnel
5.1.1 Généralités

NOTE Ces méthodes d'essai sont techniquement équivalentes à celles spécifiées dans l'ISO 4671.

Les tuyaux doivent être contrôlés pour établir leur conformité avec toutes les dimensions spécifiées dans la norme

de tuyaux applicable.
5.1.2 Mesure des diamètres extérieur et de renforcement

5.1.2.1 Déterminer, si nécessaire, par calcul après mesurage de la circonférence, le diamètre extérieur fini et le

diamètre de renforcement. En variante, un ruban flexible gradué peut être utilisé pour une lecture directe des

diamètres.

5.1.2.2 Effectuer les mesurages du diamètre extérieur à un minimum de 25 mm des extrémités du tuyau.

5.1.3 Mesure du diamètre intérieur

5.1.3.1 Mesurer le diamètre intérieur à l'aide de billes de diamètres croissants ou de calibre télescopique,

conformément à la méthode 2 de l'ISO 4671:1999.

5.1.3.2 Effectuer les mesurages du diamètre intérieur à un minimum de 25 mm des extrémités du tuyau.

5.1.4 Mesure de la concentricité

5.1.4.1 Mesurer la concentricité du diamètre de renforcement et du diamètre extérieur fini à l'aide soit d'un

comparateur à cadran, soit d'un micromètre.
5.1.4.2 Effectuer les mesures à un minimum de 15 mm des extrémités du tuyau.

5.1.4.3 Choisir une touche de l'instrument de mesure adaptée au diamètre intérieur du tuyau.

5.1.4.4 Effectuer les lectures à intervalles de 90 (1,57 rad) tout autour du tuyau. L'acceptabilité dépend de la

variation totale entre les relevés les plus élevés et les plus bas.
5.2 Essai d'épreuve

5.2.1 Soumettre les ensembles flexibles à la pression d'épreuve spécifiée conformément à la spécification

appropriée du produit en utilisant la méthode spécifiée dans l'ISO 1402, pour une période comprise entre 30 s et

60 s pour toutes les tailles.

5.2.2 Les ensembles flexibles qui ne montrent aucun signe de fuite ou de toute autre défaillance après avoir été

soumis à l'essai d'épreuve doivent être considérés comme ayant satisfaits à l'essai.

5.3 Essai de la variation de longueur

5.3.1 Effectuer les mesurages pour la détermination de l'allongement ou du raccourcissement sur un ensemble

flexible neuf, non encore essayé, ayant une longueur libre entre embouts d'au moins 600 mm.

5.3.2 Fixer l'ensemble flexible sur la source de pression en position rectiligne non restreinte. Si le flexible n'est pas

rectiligne en raison de sa courbure naturelle, il peut être fixé latéralement afin d'obtenir une position rectiligne.

Pressuriser à la pression de fonctionnement spécifiée pendant une période de 30 s, puis relâcher la pression.

5.3.3 Placer sur le revêtement extérieur du tuyau deux repères distants de 500 mm (l ) à mi-distance des embouts

après avoir laissé l'ensemble flexible se restabiliser 30 s après le relâchement de pression.

5.3.4 Remettre l'ensemble flexible sous pression à la pression de service spécifiée durant 30 s.

5.3.5 Mesurer la distance entre les deux repères pendant que le flexible est sous pression et l'enregistrer comme

5.3.6 Déterminer la variation de longueur à l'aide de la formule suivante, conformément à l’ISO 1402:

de la pression, en millimètres;
l est la distance entre les repères, flexible sous pression, en millimètres;

∆l est le pourcentage de variation de longueur, qui sera positif (+) en cas d'allongement et négatif (−) en

cas de raccourcissement.
5.4 Essai de rupture
5.4.1 Généralités

Il s'agit d'un essai destructif. Il convient que les ensembles flexibles soumis à cet essai soient détruits.

5.4.2 Mode opératoire

5.4.2.1 Soumettre des ensembles flexibles munis de leurs embouts depuis moins de 30 jours à une pression

hydrostatique croissante de façon uniforme, conformément à l'ISO 1402.

5.4.2.2 Rebuter les ensembles flexibles présentant des signes de fuite, d'éclatement ou de défaillance en deçà de

la pression de rupture minimale spécifiée.

5.5 Essai de pliage à froid
5.5.1 Généralités

NOTE Cette méthode est techniquement équivalente à la méthode B de l’ISO 4672:1997.

Il s'agit d'un essai destructif. Il convient que les ensembles flexibles soumis à cet essai soient détruits.

5.5.2 Mode opératoire

5.5.2.1 Conditionner les ensembles flexibles à une température égale à la température minimale d'application des

spécifications applicables du produit dans une position droite pendant 24 h.

5.5.2.2 Toujours à la température d'application minimale, plier les éprouvettes, en une seule opération d'une durée
