BRIEF HISTORY
The IS0 Recommendation R 214, Abstracts and Synopses, was drawn up by Technical
Committee ISO/TC 46, Documentution, the Secretariat of which is held by the Nederlands Ins-
tituut voor Documentatie en Registratuur (N.I.D.E.R.) on behalf of the Stichting Nederlands
Normalisatie-instituut ("1).
Work on this question by the Technical Committee began in 1952 and led, in 1958, to the
adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In June 1959, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 299) was circulated to all the IS0
Member Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to some editorial amendments, by the
following Member Bodies:

One Member Body opposed the approval of the Draft: New Zealand.
The Draft IS0 Recommendation was then submitted by correspondence to the IS0 Council,
which decided, in November 1961, to accept it as an IS0 RECOMMENDATION.

HISTORIQUE
La Recommandation ISO/R 214, Analyses et résumés d’auteurs, a été élaborée par le
Comité Technique ISO/TC 46, Documentution, dont le Secrétariat est assuré par le Nederlands
Instituut voor Documentatie en Registratuur (N.I.D.E.R.) pour le compte du Stichting Nederlands
Normalisatie-institut (“1).
Les travaux relatifs à cette question furent entrepris par le Comité Technique en 1952 et
aboutirent en 1958 à l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommandation ISO.
En juin 1959, ce Projet de Recommandation IS0 (NO 299) fut soumis à l’enquête de tous
les Comités Membres de 1’ISO. I1 fut approuvé, sous réserve de quelques modifications d’ordre
rédactionnel, par les Comités Membres suivants :
