BRIEF HISTORY
Addendum 1, Outside diameters larger than 419 mm (16.5 in), to IS0 Recommendation R 64-1958,
Steel tubes - Outside diameters, was drawn up by Technical Committee ISO/TC 5, Pipes and fittings, the
Secretariat of which is held by l'Association Suisse de Normalisation (SNV).
In 1966, the ISO/TC 5 Secretariat suggested to SubCommittee 1 the extension of IS0 Recommendation
R 641958 by the addition of outside diameters larger than 419 mm (16.5 in) and, in order to fill the gap between
419 mm and 1220 mm, the inclusion of the missing dimensions by taking those from IS0 Recommendation
R 336-1963.
Work on this question led to the adoption of a Draft IS0 Recommendation.
In January 1968, this Draft IS0 Recommendation (No. 1493) was submitted to all the IS0 Member
Bodies for enquiry. It was approved, subject to a few modifications of an editorial nature, by the following
Member Bodies :

HISTORIQUE
L‘Additif 1, Diamètres extérieurs supérieurs ri 419 mm (16J in), à la Recommandation ISO/R 64-1958,
Tubes en acier - Diamètres extérieurs, a été élaboré par le Comité Technique ISO/TC 5, Tuyauteries et raccords,
dont le Secrétariat est assuré par l’Association Suisse de Normalisation (SNV).
En 1966, le Secrétariat ISO/TC 5 proposa au Sous-Comité 1 d’élargir la Recommandation ISO/R 64-1958
par l’adjonction des diamMres extérieurs supérieurs à 419mm (16,5 in) et, afin qu’il n’y ait ]pas de lacune entre les
dimensions 41 9 mm et 1220 mm, d’inclure les diamktres manquants en prenant ceux de la Recommandation
ISO/R 336-1963.
Les travaux relatifs à cette question aboutirent A l’adoption d’un Projet de Recommartdation ISO.
