Tests for mechanical and physical properties of aggregates - Part 11: Determination of compressibility and confined compressive strength of lightweight aggregates

This European Standard specifies the reference method used for type testing, and in case of dispute, for determining the compressibility and confined compressive strength of lightweight aggregates (LWA). For other purposes, in particular factory production control, other methods may be used provided that an appropriate working relationship with the reference method has been established. The test is applicable to LWA passing the 32 mm sieve.

Diese Europäische Norm legt das Referenzverfahren für die Typprüfung fest sowie im Fall von Streitigkeiten für die Bestimmung der Verdichtbarkeit und Druckfestigkeit bei behinderter Querdehnung von leichten Gesteinskörnungen (LWA, en: lightweight aggregates). Für andere Zwecke, insbesondere im Rahmen der werkseigenen Produktionskontrolle, können andere Verfahren angewendet werden, sofern ein ausreichender Zusammenhang zum Referenzverfahren nachgewiesen wurde.
Die Prüfung gilt für LWA, die durch ein 32-mm-Sieb hindurchpassen.

La présente norme européenne définit la méthode de référence utilisée pour les essais de type, et en cas de litige, pour la détermination de la compressibilité et de la résistance à la compression triaxiale des granulats légers. Dans les autres cas, en particulier pour la maîtrise de la production en usine, d'autres méthodes peuvent être utilisées sous réserve qu'une corrélation appropriée avec la méthode de référence ait été établie.
L'essai est applicable aux granulats légers passant à travers un tamis de 32 mm.

Second, the steel container filled with this test specimen is subjected to a compression test with a constant loading rate until a given percentage of deformation is reached.
