Describes the test which determines the regularity of impedance of r.f. cables by measuring the return loss in the frequency domain using a vector network analyser equipped with a reflection test set (bridge) and transferring the results into the time domain by using the Inverse Discrete Fourier Transformation (IDFT).

Cette mesure est effectuée en utilisant un analyseur vectoriel de réseaux équipé d'un mesureur de réflexion (pont) et en transposant les résultats obtenus dans le domaine temporel en utilisant la Transformée Inverse de Fourier Discrète (TIFD).

cables, of IEC TC 46, Cables, wires, waveguides, r.f. connectors, r.f. and microwave passive
components and accessories, was submitted to the IEC-CENELEC parallel vote and was approved by
CENELEC as EN 62153-1-1 on 2003-12-01.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the EN has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2004-09-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting

FOREWORD
1) The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is a worldwide organization for standardization comprising
all national electrotechnical committees (IEC National Committees). The object of IEC is to promote
international co-operation on all questions concerning standardization in the electrical and electronic fields. To
this end and in addition to other activities, IEC publishes International Standards, Technical Specifications,
