This standard specifies the requirements for steel gate valves which are wrought, cast or fabricated with: - outside screw and yoke or inside screw; - single or double obturator; - wedge or parallel seating; - full bore or reduced bore; - end connections flanged, butt welding, socket welding or threaded.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen fest für Schieber aus Stahl, die geschmiedet, gegossen oder geschweißt sind und Flansch-, Anschweiß-, Schweißmuffen- oder Gewindemuffenenden haben. Diese Norm ist anwendbar für Schieber aus Stahl, die vorwiegend für industrielle und allgemeine Anwendungen verwendet werden. Sie kann jedoch auch für andere Anwendungen verwendet werden unter der Voraussetzung, daß die Anforderungen der dafür geltenden Gebrauchstauglichkeitsnormen erfüllt sind.

La présente norme européenne prescrit les caractéristiques des robinets-vannes en aciers corroyés, moulés ou mécano-soudés a: - filetage et arcade ou a filetage intérieur (voir 4.3.2.2 pour limitations); - obturateur monobloc ou double; - sieges obliques ou paralleles; - passage intégral ou réduit; - extrémités a brides, a souder bout-a-bout, a emboîter et a souder ou filetées. Les gammes des diametres nominaux et des pressions nominales sont spécifiées en 4.1.
