This standard specifies the requirements for steel gate valves which are wrought, cast or fabricated with: - outside screw and yoke or inside screw; - single or double obturator; - wedge or parallel seating; - full bore or reduced bore; - end connections flanged, butt welding, socket welding or threaded.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen fest für Schieber aus Stahl, die geschmiedet, gegossen oder geschweißt sind und Flansch-, Anschweiß-, Schweißmuffen- oder Gewindemuffenenden haben. Diese Norm ist anwendbar für Schieber aus Stahl, die vorwiegend für industrielle und allgemeine Anwendungen verwendet werden. Sie kann jedoch auch für andere Anwendungen verwendet werden unter der Voraussetzung, daß die Anforderungen der dafür geltenden Gebrauchstauglichkeitsnormen erfüllt sind.

La présente norme européenne prescrit les caractéristiques des robinets-vannes en aciers corroyés, moulés ou mécano-soudés à: - filetage et arcade ou à filetage intérieur (voir 4.3.2.2 pour limitations); - obturateur monobloc ou double; - sièges obliques ou parallèles; - passage intégral ou réduit; - extrémités à brides, à souder bout-à-bout, à emboîter et à souder ou filetées. Les gammes des diamètres nominaux et des pressions nominales sont spécifiées en 4.1.

-   Class 150; Class 300; Class 600; Class 900.
The size range is:

DN 750 and DN 1 050 are used only for Class 150 and Class 300.
Intermediate DNs are allowed upon agreement between manufacturer and customer.
For valves subject to European legislation on pressure equipment, EN 16668 applies together with this European Standard.
For industrial process control valves, EN 1349 and EN 60534 2 1 apply together with this European Standard.
For water supply application, EN 1074 1 and EN 1074 2 apply together with this European Standard.
NOTE 1   Butterfly valves for water supply application do not comply with Annex ZA and are not CE marked because they are excluded from the pressure equipment European legislation.
NOTE 2   The range of DN, applicable to each PN, for wafer and wafer lug valve types is as given in the appropriate part of EN 1092 for Type 11 flanges for the applicable material. The range of DN, applicable to each PN, for flanged valve types is as given in the appropriate part of EN 1092 for Type 21 flanges for the applicable material.
The correspondence between DN and NPS is given for information in Annex D.

This European Standard applies to copper alloy gate valves for general use having flanged, threaded, capillary, compression or loose nut/union body ends.
This European Standard specifies the design and performance requirements including materials, pressure/temperature ratings, dimensions, test procedures and marking.
For some specific fields of application, for example, drinking water or gas, valves to this European Standard can be used provided the requirements of the relevant performance standards are met. Approval by the relevant regulatory body may be required.
The range of nominal sizes is DN 8 to DN 500 and of nominal diameters is 8 mm to 110 mm.
The range of pressure designations covered is PN 6 ; PN 10 ; PN 16 ; PN 20 ; PN 25 ; PN 32 ; PN 40 ; PN 63 ; Class 150 and Class 300.
For the applicability of each nominal size/diameter and each pressure designation to the different types of valve end, see 4.1.

ISO 16139:2006 specifies requirements for the design, functional characteristics and manufacture of gate valves made of thermoplastics materials intended for isolating service, their connection to the pipe system, the body materials and their pressure/temperature rating between -40 degrees Celsius and +120 degrees Celsius, for a lifetime of 25 years, and also specifies their tests.
ISO 16139:2006 is applicable to hand- or power-operated valves to be installed in industrial pipe systems, irrespective of the field of application and the fluids to be conveyed.
This International Standard is concerned with the range of DN 10, DN 15, DN 20, DN 25, DN 40, DN 50, DN 65, DN 80, DN 100, DN 125, DN 150, DN 200, DN 250, DN 300 and DN 350, and the range of PN 6, PN 10, PN 16, and Class 150.
