This amendment modifies EN 14305:2015 identifying those clauses of the standard which are needed for the compliance of this
European Standard with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).
This amendment introduces:
a) an update for the normative references;
b) delete 4.3.15 Continuous glowing combustion;
c) the reaction to fire class "F" in Annex A;
d) the new Annex ZA;
e) editorial changes.

This draft amendment is submitted to CEN members for enquiry. It has been drawn up by the Technical Committee CEN/TC 88.

This draft amendment A1, if approved, will modify the European Standard EN 14305:2015. If this draft becomes an amendment,
CEN members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations which stipulate the conditions for inclusion of
this amendment into the relevant national standard without any alteration.

This draft amendment was established by CEN in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other
language made by translation under the responsibility of a CEN member into its own language and notified to the CEN-CENELEC
Management Centre has the same status as the official versions.

European foreword
This document (EN 14305:2015/prA1:2018) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 88
“Thermal insulating materials and products”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This document is currently submitted to the CEN Enquiry.
This amendment modifies EN 14305:2015 identifying those clauses of the standard which are needed
for the compliance of this European Standard with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR).
This amendment introduces:
a) an update for the normative references;
b) an update for 4.3.14 Release of dangerous substances by referencing EN 16516 and corresponding
adaptions in the document;
c) the deletion of 4.3.15 Continuous glowing combustion;
d) the reaction to fire class "F" in Annex A;
e) the new Annex ZA;
f) editorial changes.
This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the
European Free Trade Association.

1 Modification to the European foreword
Delete "and supports essential requirements of Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011" from the 7th paragraph.
The European foreword will be updated using the latest template texts and listing the modifications as
described in the foreword of this document.
2 Modifications to the Scope

Replace "requirements" with "characteristics" in the 1 paragraph.
Replace "evaluation of conformity" with "assessment and verification of constancy of performance
(AVCP)" in the 4th paragraph".
Replace "declared" with "measured" in the 7th paragraph.

3 Modification to Clause 2, "Normative references"
Add:

market"
Replace the last paragraph with the following:
"Reaction to fire class A1 without further test is declared when it is demonstrated by testing in
accordance with EN 13820 that the products do not contain more than 1,0 % by weight or volume
(whichever is the more onerous) of organic matter."
Replace NOTE 2 with the following:
"NOTE 2 The European Commission Decision 96/603/EC amended by Decision 2000/605/EC and
2003/424/EC gives the conditions for classification A1 without the need for testing.".
10 Modification to 4.3.1, "General"
Delete "by the manufacturer".
11 Modifications to 4.3.4, "Compressive strength"
Please replace the first sentence with the following:
"Compressive strength, σ , shall be determined in accordance with EN 826."

Add the following NOTES and paragraph at the end of the clause:
"
NOTE 1 The estimated standard deviation of compressive strength can be needed. In this event, it will be
calculated from at least five test results.
For cellular glass, EN 826:2013 compressive behaviour test method Annex A shall be respected in
which test specimens shall be capped with hot bitumen to cover the open cut cells. In absence of hot
bitumen, an alternative capping shall be foreseen having the same smoothness and cell filling capacity
as hot bitumen, e.g. soft butyl or other elastomeric thin foils or membranes.
NOTE 2 EN 826 compressive behaviour test method calls for a capping made of bitumen and a well-defined
foil; the results can be used directly where cellular glass is installed with hot bitumen or bitumen based cold
adhesive. For some applications, different cappings or no cappings are used, for instance when the operating
temperature does not allow for bitumen application. In these cases, compressive strength will be different and
tests will be run simulating the actual application conditions.".
12 Modification to 4.3.14, "Release of dangerous substances"
Replace the paragraphs and the note with the following:
1)
"If declared, the release of dangerous substances into indoor air shall be tested according to
EN 16516.
NOTE An informative database covering European and national provisions on dangerous substances is
available at the Growth website on EUROPA accessed through: http://ec.europa.eu/growth/tools-databases/cp-
ds/.".

7.1 General
In accordance with EN 13172 , the compliance of the factory made cellular glass (CG) products with the
requirements of this standard and with the performances declared by the manufacturer in the DoP shall
be demonstrated by:
— Determination of the product type (Type testing);
— Factory Production Control (FPC) by the manufacturer, including product assessment;
— Initial inspection of manufacturing plant and of Factory Production Control (FPC);
— Continuing surveillance, assessment and evaluation of Factory Production Control (FPC).
The manufacturer shall always retain the overall control and shall have the necessary means to take
responsibility for the conformity of the product with its declared performance(s).

If a manufacturer decides to group his products, it shall be done in accordance with EN 13172.
7.2 Type testing
All performances related to characteristics included in this standard shall be determined when the
manufacturer intends to declare the respective performances unless the standard gives provisions for
declaring them without performing tests. (e.g. use of previously existing data, CWFT and conventionally
accepted performance).
