This document specifies additional specific safety requirements and test methods for Class A floating leisure articles for use on and in the water regardless whether the buoyancy is achieved by inflation or inherent buoyant material.
This document is applicable for Class A floating leisure articles as specified in ISO 25649-1:2024, Table 1.
NOTE 1 Typical products in Class A (see Figures A.1 to A.3):
— “Floating Islands” in near round or square shaped forms decorated with palm tree, sun shade, etc. high superstructure;
— large floats/rafts in various shapes, from round to square;
— large floating tubes, giant tubes (inflatable or inherently buoyant);
— floating arm chairs, seats and sun beds;
— air mattresses for use on the water;
— recreational rafts/floating platforms/pontoons.
NOTE 2 Typical places for application:
— pools;
— protected areas of lakes, ponds;
— protected area sea shore (no offshore winds, no currents).

Dieses Dokument gilt für klassifizierte schwimmende Freizeitartikel für den Gebrauch auf und im Wasser der Klasse A nach ISO 25649 1:20xx, unabhängig davon, ob der Auftrieb durch Aufblasen oder selbst-schwimmende Materialien erzielt wird.
Dieses Dokument ist in Zusammenhang mit ISO 25649 1:20xx und ISO 25649 2:20xx anzuwenden.
ANMERKUNG 1 Typische Produkte der Klasse A (siehe Anhang A):
- „Schwimminseln“ in runder oder quadratischer Form mit Palmendekoration, Sonnendach usw., hoch aufragende Teile;
- große Schwimmkörper/Flöße in verschiedenen runden oder quadratischen Formen;
- große Schwimmringe, Riesenringe (aufblasbar oder aus schwimmfähigem Material);
- aufblasbare Armsessel, Sitze und Sonnenliegen;
- Luftmatratzen zum Gebrauch auf dem Wasser;
- Flöße für die Erholung auf dem Wasser, schwimmende Plattformen und Pontons.
ANMERKUNG 2 Typische Orte der Verwendung:
- Schwimmbecken;
- geschützte Bereiche von Seen, Teichen;
- geschützte Bereiche des Küstenstrandes (keine ablandigen Winde, keine Strömungen).

Le présent document spécifie des méthodes d’essai et des exigences de sécurité spécifiques supplémentaires pour les articles de loisirs flottants à utiliser sur ou dans l’eau de Classe A, que la flottabilité soit obtenue par gonflage ou par un matériau ayant une flottabilité propre.
Le présent document s’applique aux articles de loisirs flottants de Classe A spécifiés dans l’ISO 25649-1:2024, Tableau 1.
NOTE 1 Produits types de Classe A (voir les Figures A.1 à A.3):
— «îles flottantes» de forme presque ronde ou carrée, décorées avec un palmier, une protection solaire, etc.; superstructure haute;
— grands flotteurs/radeaux de formes variées, rondes à carrées;
— grands tubes flottants (« float tubes »), tubes géants (gonflables ou ayant une flottabilité propre);
— fauteuils, sièges et transats flottants;
— matelas pneumatiques à utiliser sur l’eau;
— radeaux de loisirs/plateformes flottantes/pontons.
NOTE 2 Lieux d’utilisation types:
— piscines;
— zones protégées des lacs, étangs;
— zone protégée en bord de mer (pas de vent de terre ni de courant).

This document (EN ISO 25649-3:2024) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 83 "Sports
and other recreational facilities and equipment" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC
136 “Sports, playground and other recreational facilities and equipment” the secretariat of which is held
by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2025, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by May 2025.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 25649-3:2017.

Relationship between this European Standard and the safety requirements
of Directive 2001/95/EC aimed to be covered
This European Standard has been prepared under a Commission’s standardization request Mandate
M/372 Floating leisure products for use on or in the water to provide one voluntary means of
conforming to the product safety requirements for floating leisure products for use on or in the water
pursuant to Directive 2001/95/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive
2001/95/EC, compliance with the normative clauses of this standard given in Table ZA.1 confers,
within the limits of the scope of this standard, a presumption of conformity with the corresponding
safety requirements set in the Directive and specified in the request M/372 and associated EFTA
regulations.
