ISO 15181-6:2012 specifies a method for determining the amount of tralopyril that has been released from an antifouling paint into artificial seawater in accordance with the procedure given in ISO 15181-1.
Tralopyril is unstable in water and degrades hydrolytically to form 3-bromo-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-4-cyano-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid (BCCPCA). ISO 15181-6:2012 specifies a method for accelerating the conversion of the released tralopyril into this degradation product by heat treatment and quantifying the concentration of the BCCPCA degradation product in the artificial seawater extract, and gives the final calculation for the release rate of tralopyril under the specified laboratory conditions.
ISO 15181-6:2012 is designed to allow the concurrent determination of tralopyril and other biocides that can be released by a given antifouling paint (for example, zineb) through the analysis of separate sub-samples of an artificial seawater extract generated in accordance with ISO 15181-1.
When used in conjunction with ISO 15181-1, the practical limits for quantifying release rates by this method are from 0,36 µg cm−2 d−1 to 270 µg cm−2 d−1. The quantitation of release rates lower than this range requires the use of an analytical method with a limit of quantitation for tralopyril in artificial seawater of less than 2 μg/l.

Dieser Teil von ISO 15181 legt ein Verfahren zum Bestimmen der Menge an Tralopyril fest, die nach dem in ISO 15181-1 angegebenen Verfahren aus einer Antifouling-Beschichtung in künstliches Meerwasser ausgewaschen wurde.
Tralopyril ist unbeständig in Wasser und baut hydrolytisch unter Bildung von 3-Brom-5-(4-chlorphenyl)-4-cyan-1H-pyrrol-2-carbonsäure (BCCPCA) ab. Dieser Teil von ISO 15181 legt ein Verfahren zur Beschleunigung der Umsetzung des ausgewaschenen Tralopyrils in dieses Abbauprodukt durch Wärmebehandlung zur quantitativen Bestimmung der Konzentration des BCCPCA-Abbauproduktes in dem künstlichen Meerwasserextrakt und zur abschließenden Berechnung der Auswaschrate von Tralopyril unter den festgelegten Laborbedingungen fest.
Dieser Teil von ISO 15181 ist so formuliert, dass die gleichzeitige Bestimmung von Tralopyril und anderen Bioziden (z. B. Zineb), die aus einer gegebenen Antifouling-Beschichtung ausgewaschen werden können, ermöglicht wird, indem getrennte Teilproben des künstlichen, nach ISO 15181-1 hergestellten Meerwasserextrakts analysiert werden.
Bei Anwendung in Verbindung mit ISO 15181-1 liegen die praktischen Grenzen zur quantitativen Bestimmung von Auswaschraten nach diesem Verfahren im Bereich von 0,36 µg cm−2 d−1 bis 270 µg cm−2 d−1. Die quantitative Bestimmung von niedrigeren Auswaschraten erfordert die Anwendung eines Analysenverfahrens mit einer Grenze für die quantitative Bestimmung von Tralopyril in künstlichem Meerwasser von weniger als 2 μg/l.

The text of ISO 15181-6:2012 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 35 “Paints and varnishes”
of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN ISO 15181-6:2014
by Technical Committee CEN/TC 139 “Paints and varnishes” the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by December 2014, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn
