Plastics - Methyl methacrylate-acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (MABS) moulding and extrusion materials - Part 1: Designation system and basis for specifications (ISO 10366-1:2002)

1.1 ISO 10366-1:2002 establishes a system of designation for methyl methacrylate-acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (MABS) moulding and extrusion materials, which may be used as the basis for specifications.
1.2 The types of MABS plastic are differentiated from each other by a classification system based on appropriate levels of the designatory properties
Vicat softening temperature
melt volume-flow rate
Charpy notched impact strength
tensile modulus
and on information about composition, intended application and/or method of processing, important properties, additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcing materials.
1.3 This part of ISO 10366 is applicable to all methyl methacrylate-acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene materials consisting of a continuous phase based mainly on copolymers of styrene (and/or alkyl-substituted styrene), acrylonitrile and methyl methacrylate and a dispersed elastomeric phase based mainly on polybutadiene.
It applies to MABS materials ready for normal use in the form of powder, granules or pellets, unmodified or modified by colorants, additives, fillers, etc.

Kunststoffe - Methylmethacrylat-Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol (MABS)-Formmassen - Teil 1: Bezeichnungssystem und Basis für Spezifikationen (ISO 10366-1:2002)

1.1   In diesem Teil von ISO 10366 wird ein Bezeichnungssystem für thermoplastische Methylmethacrylat-Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol (MABS)-Formmassen festgelegt, das als Grundlage für Spezifikationen dienen kann.
1.2   MABS-Formmasse-Typen werden mit Hilfe eines Einteilungssytems voneinander unterschieden, das auf geeigneten Wertebereichen der kennzeichnenden Eigenschaften:
a)   Vicat-Erweichungstemperatur,
b)   Schmelze-Volumenfließrate,
c)   Charpy-Kerbschlagzähigkeit,
d)   Zug-Modul
und auf Informationen über Zusammensetzung, vorgesehene Anwendung und/oder Verarbeitungsverfahren, wichtige Eigenschaften, Additive, Farbstoffe, Füll- und Verstärkungsstoffe beruht.
1.3   Dieser Teil von ISO 10366 ist anwendbar auf alle Methylmethacrylat-Acrylnitril-Butadien-Styrol-Formmassen mit einer kontinuierlichen Phase vorwiegend auf der Basis von Polymeren des Styrols (und/oder alkylsubstituierten Styrols), Acrylnitrils und Methylmethacrylats und einer dispersen elastomeren Phase auf der Basis von Butadien.
Er gilt für gebrauchsfertige MABS-Formmassen in Form von Pulver, Granulaten oder Pellets, nicht modifiziert oder modifiziert mit Farbstoffen, Additiven, Füllstoffen usw.
1.4   Es soll nicht unterstellt werden, dass Formmassen mit gleicher Bezeichnung notwendigerweise auch Gleiches leisten. Dieser Teil von ISO 10366 enthält keine technischen Daten, Leistungsangaben oder Verarbeitungsbedingungen, die notwendig sein können, um eine Formmasse für eine spezielle Anwendung und/oder ein bestimmtes Verarbeitungsverfahren zu spezifizieren.
Wenn solche zusätzlichen Eigenschaften gefragt sind, müssen sie, soweit möglich, mit Hilfe der in Teil 2 dieser Norm festgelegten Prüfverfahren bestimmt werden.
1.5   Um eine thermoplastische Formmasse für eine bestimmte Anwendung zu spezifizieren oder eine reproduzierbare Verarbeitung sicherzustellen, dürfen zusätzliche Anforderungen im Daten-Block 5 festgelegt werden (siehe 3.1).

L'ISO 10366:2002 est applicable à tous les copolymères transparents de méthacrylate de méthyle-acrylonitrile-butadiène-styrène comprenant une phase continue composée de copolymères du styrène (et/ou d'un styrène avec substitution par des groupements alkyles), de l'acrylonitrile, du polyméthacrylate de méthyle et une phase élastomère dispersée à base de butadiène.
Elle s'applique aux matériaux MABS prêts à l'emploi sous forme de poudres, de grains ou de granulés, et à des matériaux non modifiés ou modifiés par des colorants, des additifs, des charges etc.

The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees.
