EN 10217-2:2002 (E)65 CLASSIFICATION AND DESIGNATION5.1 ClassificationIn accordance with
the classification system in EN 10020, the steel grades P195GH, P235GH and P265GH areclassified as non-alloy quality steels and the steel grade 16Mo3 is classified as an alloy special steel.5.2 Designation5.2.1For the tubes covered by this Part of EN 10217 the steel designation consists of: the number of this Part of EN 10217;plus either: the steel name in accordance with
EN 10027-1 and CR 10260;or: the steel number allocated in accordance with
EN 10027-2.5.2.1The steel name of non alloy steel grades is designated by: the capital letter P for pressure purposes; the indication of the specified minimum yield strength at room temperature for thickness less than or equal to16 mm, expressed in MPa (see Table 4): the symbols GH for elevated temperature.5.2.3The steel name of alloy steel grade 16Mo3 is designated by the chemical composition (see Table 2).6 Information to be supplied by the purchaser6.1 Mandatory informationThe following information shall be supplied by the purchaser at the time of enquiry and order:a) the quantity (mass or total length or number);b) the term "tube";c) the dimensions (outside diameter D and wall thickness T) (see Table 6);d) the designation of the steel grade in accordance with this Part of EN 10217 (see 5.2);e) the test category for non-alloy steel (see 9.3).6.2 OptionsA number of options are specified in this Part of EN 10217 and these are listed below. In the event that thepurchaser does not indicate a wish to implement any of these options at the time of enquiry and order, the tubesshall be supplied in accordance with

EN 10204:500 m - Tube - 168,3 x 4,5 - EN 10217-2 - P265GH - TC 1 - Option 12: 3.1.C7 Manufacturing process7.1 Steelmaking processThe steelmaking process is at the discretion of the manufacturer.7.2 Deoxidation processSteels shall be fully killed.7.3 Tube manufacture and delivery conditions7.3.1All NDT activities shall be carried out by qualified and competent level 1,2 and/or 3 personnel authorisedto operate by the employer.The qualification shall be in accordance with
EN 10256 or, at least, an equivalent to it.SIST EN 10217-2:2003



EN 10217-2:2002 (E)8It is recommended that the level 3 personnel be certified in accordance with EN 473 or, at least, an equivalent toit.The operating authorisation issued by the employer shall be in accordance with
a written procedure.NDT operations shall be authorised by a level 3 NDT individual approved by the employer.NOTEThe definition of level 1,2 and 3 can be found in appropriate Standards, e.g. EN 473 and EN 10256.For pressure equipment in categories III and IV (of Directive 97/23-EC) the personnel shall be approved by arecognised third-party organisation. Tubes not conforming to this requirement shall be marked “C 2", unless arequirement to mark "C1"
(see 7.3.3) applies7.3.2The tubes shall be manufactured by high frequency welding (HFW), minimum frequency 100kHz, by themanufacturing routes specified in Table 1.Unless Option 1 is specified the manufacturing route is at the discretion of the manufacturer.Option 1: The manufacturing route is specified by the purchaser.The finished tubes shall not include welds used for joining together lengths of strip prior to forming.7.3.3Welding shall be carried out by suitably qualified personnel in accordance with suitable operatingprocedures.For pressure equipment in categories II, III, and IV, (of Directive 97/23 EC) the operating procedures and thepersonnel shall be approved by a competent third-party. EN 10217-2:2002 (E)98.2 Chemical composition8.2.1 Cast analysisThe cast analysis reported by the steel producer shall apply and conform to the requirements of Table 2.NOTEWhen welding tubes produced in accordance with
this Part of EN 10217, account should be taken of the fact thatthe behaviour of the steel during and after welding is dependent not only on the steel, but also on the applied heat treatmentand the conditions of preparing for and carrying out the welding.8.2.2 Product analysisOption 3: Product analysis for the tubes shall be supplied.Table 3 specifies the permissible deviations of the product analysis from the specified limits on cast analysisgiven in Table 2.8.3 Mechanical properties8.3.1 Mechanical properties at and below room temperatureThe mechanical properties at and below room temperature of the tubes of this part of EN 10217 shall conform tothe requirements in Table 4 and in clauses 11.4, 11.5, 11.6 and 11.7.8.3.2 Proof strength at elevated temperatureThe minimum proof strength Rp0,2 values at elevated temperature are given in Table 5.Option 6: Proof strength Rp0,2 shall be verified. Normally the finish and surface condition shall be such that anysurface imperfections requiring dressing can be identified.8.4.2.3It shall be permissible to dress, only by grinding or machining, surface imperfections provided that afterdoing so, the wall thickness in the dressed area is not less than the specified minimum wall thickness. All dressedareas shall
blend smoothly into the contour of the tube.8.4.2.4Any surface imperfection, which is demonstrated to be deeper than 5 % of the wall thickness T or 3mm whichever is the smaller, shall be dressed.This requirement does not apply to surface imperfection with a depth equal or less 0,3 mm8.4.2.5Surface imperfections which encroach on the specified minimum wall thickness shall be considereddefects and tubes containing these shall be deemed not to conform to this Part of EN 10217.8.4.2.6Repairs to the weld seam are not permitted8.4.3 Internal soundness8.4.3.1 Leak-tightnessThe tubes shall pass a hydrostatic test (see 11.9.1) or electromagnetic test see (11.9.2) for leak-tightness.Unless option 7 is specified, the choice of the test method is at the discretion of the manufacturer.Option 7: The test method for verification of leak-tightness in accordance with 11.9.1 or 11.9.2 is specified by thepurchaser.SIST EN 10217-2:2003
