This document specifies a method for determining the resistance to mechanical penetration of nonwoven fabrics by a ball of a given diameter.
The method is primarily designed to be used on nonwovens with some degree of elasticity, for which a regular burst test does not apply.

Dieses Dokument legt ein Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Beständigkeit gegen mechanische Penetration von Flächengebilden aus Vliesstoffen durch eine Kugel mit festgelegtem Durchmesser fest.
Das vorliegende Verfahren ist vorrangig so gestaltet, dass es bei Vliesstoffen mit einer gewissen Elastizität angewendet werden kann, bei denen der reguläre Berstversuch nicht anwendbar ist.

Cette méthode est essentiellement destinée à être utilisée sur des nontissés ayant un certain degré d’élasticité, pour lesquels un essai d’éclatement normal ne s’applique pas.

This document (EN ISO 9073-5:2025) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38 "Textiles"
in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 “Textiles and textile products” the secretariat of
which is held by BSI.

identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by October 2025, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by October 2025.
