This Part of this European Standard describes the method for determining the compatibility with concrete of polyurethane injection products, or other elastic injection products likely to be sensitive to the effects of the alkalis in concrete. This standard describes the reference procedure.
In the case of polyurethane products, this method is only suitable for final injection products (i.e. not water-stopping foams).

Diese Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Betonverträglichkeit von Rissfüllstoffen aus Polyurethan oder von anderen elastischen Rissfüllstoffen fest, die empfindlich auf die Einwirkung von Alkali in Beton reagieren können. Die vorliegende Norm beschreibt das Referenzverfahren.
Bei Rissfüllstoffen aus Polyurethan ist dieses Verfahren nur für ausgehärtete Rissfüllstoffe geeignet (d. h. nicht für wasserstoppende Schäume).

Le présent document décrit la méthode de détermination de la compatibilité des produits d'injection en polyuréthanne avec le béton, ou d'autres produits d'injection susceptibles d'être sensibles aux effets des éléments alcalins contenus dans le béton. Cette norme décrit le mode opératoire de référence.
Pour les produits à base de polyuréthanne, cette méthode ne convient qu'aux produits destinés à l'injection finale (c'est-à-dire pas les mousses pour arrêt de venue d'eau).

EN 12637-1:2004 is a CEN test method for assessing the compatibility of elastic injection products with concrete, with a primary focus on polyurethane injection products (final injection products only - not water‑stopping foams). The standard defines a reference procedure that simulates long‑term contact between cured injection materials and the alkaline environment of concrete to assess changes in mechanical behaviour after water contamination and alkali exposure.

  • Use a compression testing machine complying with ISO 5893.
  • Apply a defined loading/unloading cycle at a strain rate of 2.0 mm/min and record stress–strain curves.
  • Calculate elasticity, lost work (hysteresis area between loading and unloading), and deformation work (area beneath the stress–strain curve) relative to control specimens.
• Reporting: Test report must include product identification, mixing and storage details, test equipment/calibration, results and interpretation of lost/deformation work, and any deviations from the procedure.
