Adhesives for load bearing timber structures other than phenolic and aminoplastic - Test methods - Part 5: Determination of minimum pressing time under referenced conditions

This European Standard specifies a laboratory method of determining the minimum pressing time for two glue line thicknesses, close contact and 0,2 mm or 0,3 mm, at three temperatures and three wood moisture contents.
This European Standard is intended to determine the minimum pressing time using a defined procedure for obtaining a reliable base for comparison of minimum pressing time between adhesives under referenced conditions.
The method gives a result that cannot be applied to the safe manufacture of timber structures without taking into account the influence in variation of factors such as timber density, moisture content, factory temperature and relative air humidity.

Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Laborverfahren zur Bestimmung der Mindestpresszeit für zwei Klebstoff-fugendicken, dünn und 0,2 mm oder 0,3 mm, bei drei Temperaturen und drei Holzfeuchten fest.
Diese Europäische Norm ist zur Bestimmung der Mindestpresszeit mit einem festgelegten Verfahren vorgesehen, um eine zuverlässige Grundlage zum Vergleich der Mindestpresszeiten verschiedener Klebstoffe bei Referenzbedingungen zu schaffen.
Das Verfahren führt zu einem Ergebnis, das für die sichere Herstellung von Holzbauteilen nur unter Berücksichtigung der Einflussfaktoren, wie z. B. Rohdichte und Feuchtegehalt des Holzes, Werkstemperatur und relative Luftfeuchte, zugrunde gelegt werden kann.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie une méthode de détermination en laboratoire du temps de pressage minimal pour deux épaisseurs de joint de colle, à savoir les joints minces et de 0,2 mm ou 0,3 mm, à trois températures et trois teneurs en humidité du bois.
Le présent document est destiné à déterminer le temps de pressage minimal en utilisant un mode opératoire défini afin d’obtenir une base fiable de comparaison des temps de pressage minimaux de différents adhésifs dans des conditions de référence.
La méthode conduit à un résultat qui ne peut pas être utilisé pour une fabrication sûre des structures en bois sans tenir compte de l’influence de facteurs tels que la masse volumique du bois, sa teneur en humidité, la température de l’usine et l’humidité relative de l’air.

Ta Evropski Standard določa laboratorijsko metodo za ugotavljanje najkrajšega časa stiskanja za dve debelini lepljenega stika (0,2 mm ali 0,3 mm), pri treh vrednostih temperature in vsebnosti vlage v lesu.
Ta evropski standard je namenjen za določanje najkrajšega časa stiskanja z določenim postopkom za pridobivanje zanesljive podlage za primerjavo najkrajšega časa stiskanja med lepili pri referenčnih pogojih.
Z metodo se pridobi rezultat, ki ga ni mogoče uporabiti za varno proizvodnjo lesenih konstrukcij brez upoštevanja različnih vplivov dejavnikov, kot so gostota lesa, vsebnost vlage, tovarniška temperatura in relativna vlažnost zraka.

EN 15416-5:2017 (E) 3 European foreword This document (EN 15416-5:2017) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 193 “Adhesives”, the secretariat of which is held by AENOR. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by July 2017, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by July 2017. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights. This document supersedes EN 15416-5:2006. Compared to EN 15416-5:2006, the following main modifications have been made: a) title has been changed; b) application for EPI adhesives according to EN 16254 has been added; c) the pressing times are determined for both close contact glue line and 0,3 mm thick glue line when testing PUR adhesives (EN 15425) and EPI adhesives in category “General purpose” (EN 16254), and close contact glue line and 0,2 mm thick glue for EPI adhesives designed for category “Small dimensions” (EN 16254); d) some parts of this European Standard are made in line with EN 302-6:2013; e) some of the wording in EN 302-1:2013 have been used to describe how to evaluate and report % wood failure (fibre failure) in the tested test pieces; f) it is stated that the glue application shall be done at the temperature used for conditioning and pressing of the material. When screening tests are performed, the material may, however, be removed from the test temperature for glue application; g) measurement and reporting of glue line thickness has been deleted. This document is one of a series dealing with adhesives for use with timber structures, and is published in support of product standards for bonded load-bearing timber structures.
