This amendment A4 modifies the European Standard EN 132400:1994; it was approved by CENELEC
on 2000-08-01. CENELEC members are bound to comply with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations
which stipulate the conditions for giving this amendment the status of a national standard without any
alteration.
Up-to-date lists and bibliographical references concerning such national standards may be obtained on
application to the Central Secretariat or to any CENELEC member.
This amendment exists in three official versions (English, French, German). A version in any other
language made by translation under the responsibility of a CENELEC member into its own language and
notified to the Central Secretariat has the same status as the official versions.

This amendment was prepared by the Technical Committee CENELEC TC 40XA, Capacitors.
The text of the draft was submitted to the Unique Acceptance Procedure and was approved by
CENELEC as amendment A4 to EN 132400:1994 on 2000-08-01.
The following dates were fixed:
– latest date by which the amendment has to be implemented
at national level by publication of an identical
national standard or by endorsement (dop) 2002-02-01
– latest date by which the national standards conflicting
with the amendment have to be withdrawn (dow) 2003-08-01

3.5 Quality conformance inspection
Replace
the existing text by:
Before submission to the quality conformance inspection, an appropriate 100% voltage
proof test between terminations according to Table 8 shall be made. The details of this test
shall be the prerogative of the manufacturer. If the test is performed in a time period
between 1 s and 2 s the voltage of Table 8 shall be increased by 20%. If a d.c. test voltage
is used instead of a.c. for Y-capacitors, it shall not be less than 1,5 times the a.c. test
voltage in Table 8 and further increased by 20% if the testing time is between 1 s and 2 s.
