This part of IEC 60384 applies to fixed capacitors for direct current, with metallized electrodes
and polyethylene-terephthalate dielectric for use in electronic equipment.
These capacitors have a possibility of "self-healing properties" depending on conditions of use.
They are primarily intended for applications where the AC component is small with respect to
the rated voltage. Two performance grades of capacitors are covered: grade 1 for long-life
application and grade 2 for general application.
Capacitors for electromagnetic interference suppression and surface mount fixed metallized
polyethylene-terephthalate film dielectric DC capacitors are not included, but are covered by
IEC 60384-14 and IEC 60384-19, respectively.
The object of this document is to prescribe preferred ratings and characteristics and to select
from IEC 60384-1 the appropriate quality assessment procedures, tests and measuring
methods, and to give general performance requirements for this type of capacitor. Test
severities and requirements prescribed in detail specifications referring to this sectional
specification are of equal or higher performance level, because lower performance levels are
not permitted.

IEC/IEEE 60255-118-1:2018 is used for synchronized phasor measurement systems in power systems. It defines a synchronized phasor (synchrophasor), frequency, and rate of change of frequency measurements. It describes time tag and synchronization requirements for measurement of all three of these quantities. It specifies methods for evaluating these measurements and requirements for compliance with the standard under both static and dynamic conditions. It defines a phasor measurement unit (PMU), which can be a stand-alone physical unit or a functional unit within another physical unit. This document does not specify hardware, software or a method for computing phasors, frequency, or rate of change of frequency.

Standard forms the basis for a uniform procedure for a common International Safety Mark. It implements the approval schedule for safety tests in IEC 60384-14:2013, 1.4.2, requires a declaration of design for parameters relevant to safety and indicates conformance tests to be conducted on every lot prior to its release and requalification tests depending on changes to the declared design. In comparison with IEC 60384-14-1 which provides quality conformance and safety tests, this specification is restricted to safety tests only. The use of IEC 60384-14-1 may be more appropriate for components manufactured in mass production, whereas the employment of this specification may be necessary in those cases where approval and requalification tests contribute considerably to the costs of the product. A blank detail specification is a supplementary document to the sectional specification and contains requirements for style, layout and minimum content of detail specifications. Detail specifications not complying with these requirements may not be considered as being in accordance with IEC specifications, nor should they so be described. In the preparation of detail specifications the content of 1.4 of the sectional specification should be taken into account.

This International Standard provides series of preferred values for the resistance of resistors
and for the capacitance of capacitors.
The definition of such series with a defined numeric resolution is a basic prerequisite for the
marking and coding of capacitors and resistors with their respective capacitance or resistance
values as described in IEC 60062.
NOTE The number series defined in this standard are based on progressive ratios of r 10 , with r = 3 · 2i, and i
being a whole number in the range of 0 to 6, hence e.g. of 1210 .
This system of progressive ratios had been established prior to the 1952 release of the first edition of this
standard1 as a consequence of the standardisation of tolerances at ±5 %, ±10 % and ±20 % and the related
commercial practice. An adoption of the ISO practice, based on a 10 10 system, was never considered achievable.

IEC 60384-20:2015 applies to fixed surface mount capacitors for direct current, with metallized electrodes and polyphenylene sulfide dielectric for use in electronic equipment. These capacitors have metallized connecting pads or soldering strips and are intended to be mounted directly onto substrates for hybrid circuits or onto printed boards. They may have "self healing properties" depending on conditions of use and are primarily intended for applications where the a.c. component is small with respect to the rated voltage. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) Revision of the structure in accordance with ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2011 (sixth edition) to the extent practicable, and harmonization between other similar kinds of documents.
b) In addition, Clause 4 and all the tables have been reviewed in order to prevent duplications and contradictions.

IEC 60384-23:2015 is applicable to fixed surface mount capacitors for direct current, with metallized electrodes and polyethylene naphthalate dielectric for use in electronic equipment. These capacitors have metallized connecting pads or soldering strips and are intended to be mounted directly onto substrates for hybrid circuits or onto printed boards. These capacitors may have "self healing properties" depending on conditions of use. They are primarily intended for applications where the a.c. component is small with respect to the rated voltage. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) Revised all parts of the document based on the ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2011 (sixth edition) and harmonization between other similar kinds of documents. b) Revised tables and Clause 4 so as to prevent duplications and contradictions.

IEC 60384-14:2013 applies to capacitors and resistor-capacitor combinations which will be connected to an a.c. mains or other supply with nominal voltage not exceeding 1 000 V a.c. (r.m.s.) or 1 000 V d.c. and with a nominal frequency not exceeding 100 Hz. This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2005. It constitutes a technical revision. All changes that have been agreed upon can be categorized as minor revisions.
