IEC 61158-4-11:2014 specifies procedures for: the timely transfer of data and control information from one data-link user entity to a peer user entity, and among the data-link entities forming the distributed data-link service provider; procedures for giving communications opportunities to all participating DL entities, sequentially and in a cyclic manner for deterministic and synchronized transfer at cyclic intervals up to one millisecond; procedures for giving communication opportunities available for time-critical data transmission together with non-time-critical data transmission without prejudice to the time-critical data transmission; procedures for giving cyclic and acyclic communication opportunities for time-critical data transmission with prioritized access; procedures for giving communication opportunities based on standard ISO/IEC 8802-3 medium access control, with provisions for nodes to be added or removed during normal operation and the structure of the fieldbus DLPDUs used for the transfer of data and control information by the protocol of this standard, and their representation as physical interface data units. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2010 and constitutes a technical revision. The main changes are: Subclauses 4.6.1, 4.6.4 and 5.4.6, Clause 6 and 7.2 for the loop-architecture are modified to cover the additional specifications for the higher data rate in the loop-architecture.

L'IEC 61158-4-11:2014 spécifie les procédures pour  le transfert en temps utile de données et d'informations de commande d'une entité d'utilisateur de liaison de données vers une entité d'utilisateur homologue, et parmi les entités de liaison de données formant le fournisseur de service de liaison de données distribué; les procédures permettant à toutes les entités DL participantes de communiquer, de manière séquentielle et cyclique dans le cadre d'un transfert déterministe et synchronisé, à intervalles cycliques d'une milliseconde au maximum; les procédures permettant à la transmission de données prioritaires de communiquer avec une transmission de données non prioritaires, sans préjudice pour la première; les procédures permettant à la transmission de données prioritaires de communiquer de manière cyclique et acyclique, avec un accès en priorité; les procédures permettant d'assurer la communication en fonction du contrôle d'accès au support ISO/CEI 8802-3, avec des dispositions relatives aux n uds à ajouter ou retirer pendant le fonctionnement normal; et la structure des DLPDU du bus de terrain utilisée pour le transfert de données et d'informations de commande par le protocole de la présente norme, et leur représentation comme unités de données d'interface physique. Cette troisième édition annule et remplace la deuxième édition, parue en 2010. Elle constitue une révision technique. Les modifications principales sont: les Paragraphes 4.6.1, 4.6.4 et 5.4.6, l'Article 6 et 7.2 pour l'architecture en boucle ont été modifiés pour couvrir les spécifications supplémentaires relatives au débit de données plus élevé dans l'architecture en boucle.

Standard IEC 61158-4-11:2014 določa postopke za: pravočasen prenos podatkov in informacij o nadzoru od enega uporabniškega osebka podatkovne povezave do istoležnega uporabniškega osebka ter med osebki podatkovne povezave, ki tvorijo ponudnika storitev porazdeljenih podatkovnih povezav; postopke za omogočanje komunikacijskih priložnosti za vse sodelujoče entitete s podatkovno povezavo, zaporedno in na cikličen način, za deterministični in sinhronizirani prenos v cikličnih intervalih do ene milisekunde; postopke za omogočanje komunikacijskih priložnosti za prenos časovno kritičnih podatkov skupaj s prenosom časovno nekritičnih podatkov brez poseganja v prenos časovno kritičnih podatkov; postopke za omogočanje cikličnih in acikličnih komunikacijskih priložnosti za prenos časovno kritičnih podatkov s prednostnim dostopom; postopke za omogočanje komunikacijskih priložnosti na podlagi dostopa do prenosnega medija iz standarda ISO/IEC 8802-3, z možnostjo dodajanja ali odstranjevanja vozlišč med običajnim delovanjem, ter strukturo DLPDU za procesna vodila, ki se uporabljajo za prenos podatkov in informacij o nadzoru s protokolom tega standarda, in njihovo zastopanost kot fizični vmesnik podatkovnih enot. Ta tretja izdaja razveljavlja in nadomešča drugo izdajo, objavljeno leta 2010, in predstavlja tehnično popravljeno izdajo. Glavne spremembe so: Podtočke 4.6.1, 4.6.4 in 5.4.6 ter točki 6 in 7.2 v zvezi z zančno arhitekturo so spremenjene tako, da zajemajo dodatne specifikacije večje hitrosti podatkov v zančni arhitekturi.
