Leather - Physical and mechanical tests - Determination of tear load - Part 2: Double edge tear (ISO 3377-2:2002)

This European Standard describes a method for determining the tear strength of leather using a double edged tear. The method is sometimes described as the Baumann tear. It is applicable to all types of leather.

Diese Internationale Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Weiterreißfestigkeit von Leder mit Hilfe eines Zweikanten-Weiterreißversuchs fest. Das Verfahren wird gelegentlich als ?Reißversuch nach Baumann" bezeichnet. Es ist für alle Leder anwendbar.

This document (EN ISO 3377-2:2002) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 289
"Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI, in collaboration with the International Union of
Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS).
It is based on Method IUP 8 of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists
Societies.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of
an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2003, and conflicting national
standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by June 2003.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of
the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Czech
Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg,
