ECISS/TC 19/SC 1 - Reinforcing steel not for prestressing

This document specifies general requirements and definitions for the performance characteristics of weldable reinforcing steel used for the reinforcement of concrete structures, delivered as finished products in the form of:
-   bars, coils (rod, wire) and de-coiled products;
-   sheets of factory-made machine-welded fabric;
-   lattice girders.
1.2   Steels according to this document have a ribbed, indented or smooth surface.
1.3   This document does not apply to:
-   non-weldable reinforcing steel;
-   galvanized reinforcing steel;
-   epoxy-coated reinforcing steel;
-   corrosion resistant reinforcing steel;
-   prestressing steels (see prEN 10138-1 to -4);
-   indented strip;
-   further processing, e.g. cutting or cutting and bending.

This document specifies product characteristic, test/assessment method and the way of expressing test results, for stainless steel as defined in EN 10088-1 and designated as in EN 10088-1 for the use of the reinforcement of concrete.
It applies to stainless steel products with ribbed or indented surfaces, which are in the form of:
-   bars and coils (rod, wire);
-   sheets of factory-made machine-welded fabric;
-   lattice girders and hybrid lattice girders composed by stainless steel and by weldable reinforcing steel according to EN 10080.
This document does not apply to:
-   pre-stressed stainless steels;
-   indented strip;
-   stainless steel tube filled with carbon steel swarf, which is then hot or cold reduced;
-   stainless steel smooth bar with weld material deposited on it;
-   galvanized reinforcing steel;
-   epoxy-coated reinforcing steel.

This European Standard specifies requirements for galvanized (hot-dip zinc coated) reinforcing steel in the form of bars, coils (rod, wire), welded fabric and lattice girder for the reinforcement of concrete.
It specifies seven classes of coating, class A to class G, corresponding to different coating masses (see 9.5.4).
This specification may also be understood to cover other classes of coating whose details are not stated in this edition of the standard but whose specified values of properties are defined consistenly with Clause 9 and the conformity of which is carried out according to Clause 10.
This European Standard does not apply to galvanized (hot-dip zinc coated) reinforcement for prestressing or components of these reinforcements.

This European Prestandard specifies requirements for the chemical composition and the mechanical and geometrical properties of weldable ribbed reinforcing steel in grade B500, categories A and B (designated as steels B500A and B500B, see table 1) used for the reinforcement of concrete structures in the form of - bars and coils or as elements for the manufacturing of welded fabric, - sheets of factory made machine welded fabric in the diameter ranges given in table 1.
