IEC 60335-2-95:2019 is available as IEC 60335-2-95:2019 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.
IEC 60335-2-95:2019 deals with the safety of electric drives for garage doors for residential use that open and close in a vertical direction, the rated voltage of the drives being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. It also covers the hazards associated with the movement of these electrically driven garage doors. The drive can be supplied with a garage door. This standard also applies to entrapment protection devices for use with drives. It does not cover hazards related to the mechanisms of the door itself. As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, in general, it does not take into account playing with the appliance by young children, but recognizes that children may be in the vicinity of the garage door. Attention is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities.
This standard does not apply to drives
- for shutters, awnings, blinds and similar equipment (IEC 60335-2-97);
- for gates, doors and windows (IEC 60335-2-103);
- for commercial and industrial purposes;
- intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas).
This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition published in 2011, Amendment 1: 2015 and Amendment 2:2017. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) the text has been aligned with edition 5.2 of Part 1;
b) reference to IEC 60335-2-97 and IEC 60335-2-103 has been revised to correctly state their titles (Clause 1);
c) specific instruction statements have been revised to separate them from information to be provided (7.12);
d) the compliance criteria for the tests of 19.11.2 and 19.11.3 has been modified (19.13);
e) the tests for class III appliances and parts of class III constructions have been modified (25.8, 25.15).
This part 2 is to be used in conjunction with the latest edition of IEC 60335-1 and its amendments. It was established on the basis of the fifth edition (2010) of that standard.

Applies to those components of X-ray equipment which influence the image quality and patient dose of diagnostic X-ray systems using radiographic and radioscopic imaging systems.[
]Defines:[
]- the parameters which describe the performance of X-ray equipment with regard to imaging properties and patient dose;[
]- methods of testing wether measured quantities related to those parameters comply with the specific tolerances.[
]The aim is to verify compliance of the installation with specifications relating to the image quality and patient dose, and to detect malfunctions that are not in agreement with those specifications.

IEC 60335-2-97:2016 deals with the safety of electric drives for shutters, blinds and awnings, intended for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase drives and 480 V for other drives. Battery-operated drives and other d.c. supplied drives are within the scope of this standard. Examples of equipment that can be driven are:
- spring controlled folding arm awnings;
- curtains;
- grilles covering doors and windows;
- projection screens;
- shutters covering doors and windows and draperies. Drives may be supplied with a driven part. Drives not intended for normal household use but that nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as drives intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry, on farms and on industrial premises, are within the scope of this standard. Attention is drawn to the fact that for drives intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. This standard does not apply to
- drives intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas);
- drives for vertically moving garage doors for residential use (IEC 60335-2-95);
- drives for rolling doors (IEC 60335-2-103);
- drives used in premises such as hangars or in heavy industry and drives for theatre curtains. As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However, in general, it does not take into account:
- persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction or
- children playing with the appliance. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2002 including its Amendment 1 (2004) and its Amendment 2 (2008). It constitutes a technical revision. The principal changes in this edition as compared with the second edition of IEC 60335-2-97 are as follows (minor changes are not listed):
- Deleted "rolling" from the title and modified the scope to cover appliance types other than shutters, awnings, and blinds that are operated in a rolling way;
- Revised 19.13 to allow drives to obtain a safe position;
- Added 19.101 to provide a new abnormal test for drives with rated operating time;
- Added 20.104.4 to establish a test intended to cover horizontal movement (non-rolling) drive parts;
- Added 20.104.5 to provide an additional test to cover rolling grills to address the risk of being lifted;
- Modified 22.46 and Annex R to introduce software requirements for programmable electronic circuits used to comply with Clause 20;
- Added 22.101 to introduce a requirement to prevent inadvertent adjustments that would lead to unsafe application of drives;
- Added examples of swing shutters and sliding shutters in Figure 101. The attention of National Committees is drawn to the fact that equipment manufacturers and testing organizations may need a transitional period following publication of a new, amended or revised IEC publication in which to make products in accordance with the new requirements and to equip themselves for conducting new or revised tests. It is the recommendation of the committee that the content of this standard be adopted for implementation nationally not earlier than 12 months or later than 36 months from the date of publication. IEC 60335-2-103:2015 deals with the safety of electric drives for horizontally and vertically moving gates, doors, garage doors and windows for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase drives and 480 V for other drives. It also covers the hazards associated with the movement of the driven part.
Battery-operated drives and other d.c. supplied drives are within the scope of this standard. Dual supply drives, either mains-supplied or battery-operated, are regarded as battery-operated drives when operated in the battery mode.
Drives not intended for normal household use but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as drives intended to be used by laymen in shops, offices, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, in industry and on farms, are within the scope of this standard.
Requirements for drives for doors that may be used in emergency routes and exits are given in Annex AA.
Examples of drives within the scope of this standard are drives for:
- folding doors;
- revolving doors;
- rolling doors;
- roof windows;
- sectional overhead doors;
- swinging and sliding gates or doors.
Drives may be supplied with a driven part.

- lack of experience and knowledge

This standard does not apply to drives
- for vertically moving garage doors for residential use (60335-2-95);
- for shutters covering doors and windows (including locations where the door is set back from the shutter), awnings, blinds and similar equipment (60335-2-97);
- intended exclusively to be used by trained persons in commercial and industrial premises;
- for specific purposes, such as fire doors;
- for natural smoke exhaust ventilators not used as windows (ISO 21927-2);
- intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas).
This standard does not apply to movement of a pedestrian door where such movement is based solely on stored energy.
This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2006 and its Amendment 1 (2010). It constitutes a technical revision.
The principal changes in this edition as compared with the second edition of IEC 60335 2 103 are as follows:
- modification of requirements in Clause 20 by introduction of new annexes.
This part 2 is to be used in conjunction with the latest edition of IEC 60335-1 and its amendments. It was established on the basis of the fifth edition (2010) of that standard.
This part 2 supplements or modifies the corresponding clauses in IEC 60335-1, so as to convert that publication into the IEC standard: Safety requirements for electric drives for gates, doors and windows.
This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60335-1:2013.

- for rolling shutters, awnings, blinds and similar equipment (IEC 60335-2-97);
- for garage doors for use by more than one household (IEC 60335-2-103);
- for commercial and industrial purposes or
- for drives intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail, such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust, vapour or gas).
This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2002 including its Amendment 1 (2004) and its Amendment 2 (2008). It constitutes a technical revision.
