ISO/TC 39/SC 8 - Work holding spindles and chucks

ISO 702-1:2009 specifies the sizes for interchangeability of conical spindle noses and corresponding connecting faces of face plates or work holding chucks.

ISO 702-2:2007 specifies the sizes for interchangeability of cylindrical spindle noses and corresponding connecting faces of face plates or work holding chucks.

ISO 702-3:2007 specifies the sizes for interchangeability of bayonet-type lathe spindle noses and corresponding face plates.

ISO 3442-3:2007 specifies 90° and 60° serrations and jaw nuts applicable to 90° and 60° serrations for mounting the top jaws on the base jaws of power chucks, in order to ensure interchangeability. It also describes, with reference to ISO 230-1, the geometric tests for self-centring, power-operated chucks with two or more two-piece jaws (serrated type), and the corresponding tolerances which apply.

ISO 3089:2005 specifies, with reference to ISO 230-1, the geometric tests and corresponding tolerances for self-centring, manually-operated chucks for machine tools with more than two jaws. This type of chuck has jaws known as "one-piece hard jaws", the relatively large stroke of which allows quick adaptation to the most varied sizes of workpieces without dismounting. ISO 3089:2005 deals only with the inspections of rotational accuracy of the chuck, the straightening and the centring of workpieces. It is not applicable to other dynamic quantities, such as measurement of counterbalancing or measurements gripping powers.

ISO 3442-1:2005 specifies the sizes for interchangeability of self-centring, manually operated chucks with two-piece jaws (tongue and groove type) and describes, by reference to ISO 230-1, the geometric tests for such chucks. It also specifies the tolerances which apply to these tests.

ISO 3442-2:2005 specifies the sizes for interchangeability of self-centring, power-operated chucks with two-piece jaws (tongue and groove type) and describes, by reference to ISO 230-1, the geometric tests for such chucks. It also specifies the tolerances which apply to these tests.

ISO 702-4:2004 specifies the sizes for interchangeability of cylindrical spindle noses and corresponding connecting faces of face plates or work holding chucks.

ISO 16156:2004 sets out the requirements and/or measures to remove the hazards and limit the risk on work holding chucks. It covers all the hazards relevant to this component. The requirements concern designers, manufacturers, suppliers and importers of work holding chucks. It also includes information which the manufacturer shall provide for the user. It is primarily directed to components which are manufactured after its date of issue.

Describes the tests and the corresponding permissible deviations of two classes of accuracy. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (1974).

Defines precision classes as follows: class I, corresponding to precision chucks; class II, corresponding to normal accuracy chucks. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (1975).
